Last year we stayed at Hotel 1620 for the first time. It was exciting to see the hotel in transformation as they were under renovation during our stay in the summer of 2016. It was already a gorgeous hotel; however, the new design and decor was something to look forward to. Once again we were impressed with Hotel 1620 and feel that we couldn’t have picked a more perfect hotel for our stay in Plymouth. It truly is the best hotel to stay in when visiting Plymouth and here are the top three reasons why:
#1 LOCATION
Hotel 1620 is located across the street from the bay and is the best place to stay for exploring historic Plymouth. Situated down town, visitors can walk to popular restaurants and attractions like Plymouth Rock, Mayflower II Replica and other historical sites.
We were blessed with gorgeous warm sunny weather, so walking around town every afternoon was the highlight of our day. There is so much to do and explore around the Harbor. We enjoyed dining on the water and walking out on the Jetty. The Jetty is a .72 mile footbridge that takes you out to the bay. The views are spectacular!
There are hidden treasures around town, just walking distance from the hotel. Nelson Memorial Park is one of our favorite places in downtown Plymouth. Nelson park has a large play ground with slides, swings, sandbox and obstacle courses from kids of all ages. My boys loved the splash pad with water features. I loved how the spray ground blended into it’s natural surrounding, its absolutely gorgeous.
The hotel shares a parking lot with the village market that has great restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors and more. Every evening we’d sneak out for a treat and fun on little quarter rides.
#2 LUXURIOUS ROOMS
In December 2016 Hotel 1620 celebrated their grand reopening. The hotel completed a full renovation of the entire hotel so all the rooms, lobby, restaurant and ballroom have been completely updated. Everything about the hotel is luxury! The rooms are glamorous, spacious and stylish. I’m impressed with the elegance and class to be expected at the Hotel 1620, yet the prices remain reasonable. I adore the nautical theme with a elegant contemporary twist.
The thing I appreciate about the rooms the most are the beds and pillows. They were hands down the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. It’s so important to be comfortable and get a good nights rest when traveling. I also love the interior design choices for the room. Everything in the room is so well thought out and has the perfect balance of fashion and function. I personally love when the fridge is hidden in the dresser and the outlets are easy to reach by incorporating it into the furniture.
#3 HOSPITALITY
One of the things that makes Hotel 1620 stand out the most is the excellent hospitality. From the day we checked in our interactions with the staff were genuine. I’m impressed that the concierge and desk clerks know our names. They are experts on the area and have great suggestions for places to eat and visit. So don’t be shy to talk and get inside tips.

The hotel there does look awesome. It looks friendly and accomodating as well as a great place to relax and enjoy one’s self. And as you said, hospitality is essential in a good hotel.

A hotel can make or break a trip. I love when I come across a good one that someone has reviewed!! I’d much rather stay somewhere that someone I trust has written about than to go hit or miss with stranger reviews.
