One thing I love most about living in Southern Maryland is the opportunity to shop local. Just about ten miles south of La Plata is where a charming little farm named Pop Pop’s Greenhouse is nestled. Here you will find everything you need to decorate your front porch for the fall; from pumpkins of every color to decorative corn stalks and vibrant mums to potted fall flowers, they have it all. It’s a huge bonus that while shopping for festive fall decor, you can spend quality family time on the farm throughout October.
FUN ON THE FARM
It’s the simple, yet fun things that make this farm such a joy to visit. The outdoor play ground area is exceptionally fun. The unique recycled tire climbing structures provide hours of entertaining. Also in this area is a sand pit with ride-on excavators, basket ball arcade and a buckin’ bronco bounce coral.
There are some adorable animals on the farm; bunnies, chicken and goats!
Another hit was the corn pit and gem mining tent. My kiddos could spend hours digging, scooping and playing in these sensory friendly bins. Gem mining costs $5 take home the collected stones and sharks teeth discovered.
I have so many adorable videos of my kiddos going down the hill slide. This activity was so fun that even the adults got in on it.
Unique to this farm is a Enchanted Trail. Walk along and enjoy a whimsical scavenger hunt or take a turn down the spooky path for a thrill. Also in this area is a new pumpkin sling shot. This was a big hit for my oldest son!
The trail comes out at the front of the property where the sunflower maze, hill slide and bike track are located.
TIPS
- Come hungry, every week there are different local food trucks with amazing tasty treats. Some weekend bands and entertainment perform on the farm. Be sure to check out their Facebook Page to see who will be there.
- There are bathrooms on site in form of porter potty that are well kept. Additionally, you will find portal sinks where you can wash your hands with soap and water.
- Bring extra spending money for produce, mums and fall decorations.
