SPLISH SPLASH AT LA PLATA SPLASH PAD

The Spray Pad at the Town of La Plata opens Friday May 22nd for the 2026 season. This quaint play area with water features is a great way to cool down during the hot and humid Maryland summer days.  Here are some details on what to expect.

The Splash Pad is a great little spot to cool off from the heat. Located behind the Town Hall in downtown La Plata, Maryland is where you will find this little gem. This free resource is available to the community every day of the week Memorial weekend through Labor Day during the hours of 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. If you live downtown, you can walk; or if you need to drive, you can use the side street parking on Queen Anne Street or use the Town Hall parking lot. The address to use in your GPS is 305 Queen Anne St. La Plata, MD 20646.

HOW IT WORKS

To activate the water, walk over to the metal box and push the orange button.  The kids can splish and splash for about ten minutes, then the water will stop spraying. If you want to stay longer just push the button again for more fun!

PLAYFUL PARENT TIPS

---

• Weekdays between the hours of 10AM-2PM seem to be the least crowded.
• When no one else is there, we like to bring buckets for filling water and dumping. My boys also love bringing hot wheels cars and tracks to make a drive thru car wash.
• There is limited shade, so be sure to put on sun screen.
• There is a bathroom open to the public located on site.
• The picnic tables have been removed this year, so if you’d like to picnic bring a blanket.
• Bring a small cooler with beverages or snacks to stay hydrated.
• Be sure to stay tuned, the Town of La Plata is renovating a near by play ground called Wills Park. I promise to have updated information once that is open!
