September is here and you know what that means…. fall is just around the corner in a few weeks. Autumn is the perfect time of year for picking the perfect pumpkin, wandering through an orchard or getting lost in a corn maze. Over the past few years our family has been venturing near and far to visit many different farms and festivals. This article includes details about family friendly farms and fall events for Southern Maryland families. I’ve included individual guides from previous years for each farm, so that you know what to expect when you go. Information: Horsmon Farm will be celebrating their fall festival on weekends September 14th- October with hay rides, petting zoo, corn box and straw maze. If you are looking for a place to pick up beautiful flowers this is the place, their mums are gorgeous and home grown. The farm is open Fridays & Saturdays 9 AM- 6 PM and Sundays 10 AM – 5 PM. Come out to Spider Hall Farm to celebrate fall by picking pumpkins, venturing through a corn maze or enjoying a hay ride. Kids will love the giant slide, moon bounce and sensory corn box. Be sure to save room for Mrs. Moo’s homemade ice cream. If you are looking for a place to have fun and learn a little too, then this is the perfect farm for you. Since I’m a huge advocate for learning through play; my favorite section of the farm is Mrs. Moo’s Little Hands. A hands-on interactive area where kids learning about farming. Kids pick up a market bag and walk around different stations and pick up foods for their bag along the way. At the different stations they learn about where eggs come from, how to milk a cow and the process for how fruits and vegetables grow. Fall attractions are open on weekends through out October. General admission is $8 per person, kids 3 and under are free.
