During open swim hours, 2 lanes will be reserved for lap swimming.
During our high school swim clinic, only 1 lane will be reserved for lap swimming.
Lap swimming only hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center
During this time, all 6 lanes will be available
Lap swimming will run on a windowed cycle. For example, if the first window starts at 4:00 p.m., that window will close at 5:00 p.m. The next window would run from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and the windows would proceed in that cycle for the duration of open swim hours.
Lap lanes will be limited to 1 person per lane, unless a member of the same household.

Masks and Social Distancing:
Masks are required for patrons over the age of 5 when entering the facility, on the pool deck, in the restrooms, and when social distancing is not possible.
Masks are not required to be worn in the water unless participating in shallow water exercise such as water aerobics
Patrons sitting on the pool deck with their feet in the water will not be considered to be in the water and must wear a mask.
All patrons are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and anyone (including our staff) who is not a member of their household. Social distancing guidelines also apply in the water and our staff will be enforcing social distancing throughout the facility.
Pool Furniture and Equipment:
Bleachers will be marked with 6 feet of distance between sections.
Sections may not be shared with a member of a different household.
Sections will be sanitized by staff after each use. Outside furniture is not permitted.

Details: There’s nothing more patriotic than spending the evening under the stars listing to the Nations Armed Forces bands over looking the nations capital. Visitors and local residents are invited to enjoy FREE outdoor musical performances on Saturday nights from 7 to 8:30 PM. Bring a chair and enjoy an evening with performing ensembles of the USAF Band or the Army Band. Concerts are free and open to the public. These events are subject to weather cancellations. The Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center and Lackey Indoor Pool are currently open with the following policies in place:
Only Charles County residents will be permitted.
Open Swim Hours:
Monday-Friday, 5:30-8:00 p.m. (Lackey) , 7:09-9:00 pm (North Point & Wade) ,
Saturdays and Sundays, 9am-12pm (Lackey) Noon-6:00 p.m. (Donald M. Wade & North Point)
General Guidelines:
Maximum 70 patrons permitted into the facility.
General pool admission is limited to 2 hours.
Patrons will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis.
Swim lessons, pool rentals, lane rentals, and birthday parties are not available at this time.
Lap Swimming:
During open swim hours, 2 lanes will be reserved for lap swimming.
During our high school swim clinic, only 1 lane will be reserved for lap swimming.
Lap swimming only hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center
During this time, all 6 lanes will be available
Lap swimming will run on a windowed cycle. For example, if the first window starts at 4:00 p.m., that window will close at 5:00 p.m. The next window would run from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and the windows would proceed in that cycle for the duration of open swim hours.
Lap lanes will be limited to 1 person per lane, unless a member of the same household.
Water Aerobics at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Classes are limited to 20 participants
Walk-in Fee: $8/class
Prior to Arrival and Admission:

Patrons will check-in upon arrival.
Accepted forms of payment: cash, credit card, punch card, and RecPASS.
Daily admission fees:
Ages 2 and Younger – Free
Youth (Ages 3-12) and Seniors (60+) – $5
Adults (Ages 13-59) – $6
Patrons are encouraged to wear their bathing suits to/from the facility.
All personal belongings should remain with you during your visit. Items left behind will be discarded daily.
Patrons are encouraged to bring a water bottle. No other drinks or outside food will be permitted into the facility.
Masks and Social Distancing:
Masks are required for patrons over the age of 5 when entering the facility, on the pool deck, in the restrooms, and when social distancing is not possible.
Masks are not required to be worn in the water unless participating in shallow water exercise such as water aerobics
Patrons sitting on the pool deck with their feet in the water will not be considered to be in the water and must wear a mask.
All patrons are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and anyone (including our staff) who is not a member of their household. Social distancing guidelines also apply in the water and our staff will be enforcing social distancing throughout the facility.
Pool Furniture and Equipment:
Bleachers will be marked with 6 feet of distance between sections.
Sections may not be shared with a member of a different household.
Sections will be sanitized by staff after each use. Outside furniture is not permitted.
General pool equipment (kickboards, pool noodles, life jackets, etc) will not be available for public use.

Masks and Social Distancing:
Masks are required for patrons over the age of 5 when entering the facility, on the pool deck, in the restrooms, and when social distancing is not possible.
Masks are not required to be worn in the water unless participating in shallow water exercise such as water aerobics
Patrons sitting on the pool deck with their feet in the water will not be considered to be in the water and must wear a mask.
All patrons are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and anyone (including our staff) who is not a member of their household. Social distancing guidelines also apply in the water and our staff will be enforcing social distancing throughout the facility.
Pool Furniture and Equipment:
Bleachers will be marked with 6 feet of distance between sections.
Sections may not be shared with a member of a different household.
Sections will be sanitized by staff after each use. Outside furniture is not permitted.
General pool equipment (kickboards, pool noodles, life jackets, etc) will not be available for public use.

Details: There’s nothing more patriotic than spending the evening under the stars listing to the Nations Armed Forces bands over looking the nations capital. Visitors and local residents are invited to enjoy FREE outdoor musical performances on Saturday nights from 7 to 8:30 PM. Bring a chair and enjoy an evening with performing ensembles of the USAF Band or the Army Band. Concerts are free and open to the public. These events are subject to weather cancellations. Patrons are encouraged to wear their bathing suits to/from the facility.
All personal belongings should remain with you during your visit. Items left behind will be discarded daily.
Patrons are encouraged to bring a water bottle. No other drinks or outside food will be permitted into the facility.
Masks and Social Distancing:
Masks are required for patrons over the age of 5 when entering the facility, on the pool deck, in the restrooms, and when social distancing is not possible.
Masks are not required to be worn in the water unless participating in shallow water exercise such as water aerobics
Patrons sitting on the pool deck with their feet in the water will not be considered to be in the water and must wear a mask.
All patrons are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and anyone (including our staff) who is not a member of their household. Social distancing guidelines also apply in the water and our staff will be enforcing social distancing throughout the facility.
Pool Furniture and Equipment:
Bleachers will be marked with 6 feet of distance between sections.
Sections may not be shared with a member of a different household.
Sections will be sanitized by staff after each use. Outside furniture is not permitted.
General pool equipment (kickboards, pool noodles, life jackets, etc) will not be available for public use.

Join us Wednesday mornings at 10:30am outside in the park for gently guided nature walks as we investigate the forests and fields at Annmarie. Led by Hester, our staff naturalist, these walks will be lightly themed, but will allow children to investigate and discover all kinds of wonders. The conversation will be guided by whatever we find together! Dress appropriately for the weather and wear shoes that can get muddy.

During this time, all 6 lanes will be available
Lap swimming will run on a windowed cycle. For example, if the first window starts at 4:00 p.m., that window will close at 5:00 p.m. The next window would run from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and the windows would proceed in that cycle for the duration of open swim hours.
Lap lanes will be limited to 1 person per lane, unless a member of the same household.
Water Aerobics at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center:

Roller-skating is one way for kids to get some exercise and it’s something the whole family can do. Waldorf Roller Skating Center Roller and Inline Skating Rink offers open skating, where the rink is open to the public, as well as private access to the skating rink for events such as a birthday party. The rink offers rentals for regular roller skates and you are free to bring your own regular or inline skates. For beginners, skating classes are available for kids and adults of all ages. ***Always call first or check site before attending event***

Details: There’s nothing more patriotic than spending the evening under the stars listing to the Nations Armed Forces bands over looking the nations capital. Visitors and local residents are invited to enjoy FREE outdoor musical performances on Saturday nights from 7 to 8:30 PM. Bring a chair and enjoy an evening with performing ensembles of the USAF Band or the Army Band. Concerts are free and open to the public. These events are subject to weather cancellations. Don’t forget the first Kids Summer Show is tomorrow 10 am at Town of La Plata Town Hall! Blue Sky Puppet Theatre is the first show out of five this season geared towards preschool to elementary age children. They run approximately 45 minutes long. You will find a variety of low-touch, no-touch fun along the trails and paths of the Sculpture Garden. Grab your bug spray, pack a picnic blanket or chairs, and spend your summer with us! During the Enchanted Summer, daily visitors can:
– Explore the galleries
-Search for over 100 fairy houses
-play in the Fairy Lolly nature playspace
-build your own fairy house in the forest
– search for gems and fossils at the Fairy Grove Mining sluice (additional fees apply)
-Try the Wild Rumpus Run

-find the hidden Dragons Nest

Details: Visit the kingdom of family fun. Majesticland is a safe, fun, and a uniquely different one-stop-shop of family entertainment that offers a world of new excitement and creates memories to last a lifetime. Geared towards children 12-years-old and under, our family entertainment center offers a variety of entertainment activities that will have your little ones never wanting to leave! Featuring indoor play area for young kids and arcade type games for older kids.
Join us Wednesday mornings at 10:30am outside in the park for gently guided nature walks as we investigate the forests and fields at Annmarie. Led by Hester, our staff naturalist, these walks will be lightly themed, but will allow children to investigate and discover all kinds of wonders. The conversation will be guided by whatever we find together! Dress appropriately for the weather and wear shoes that can get muddy.
These guided walks are designed for ages 4-6 and their adults, but siblings are welcome to explore too. Cost includes admission to the park, so pack a picnic and stay and play afterwards! Registration required. Click the TICKETS link to join us!

The Playful Parent was created by Kristy a mother of three energetic boys. She has a Bachelors degree with a interest in Education and Masters in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. “I believe that children learn through play! I love to do fun things with my children and hope that sharing our adventures provides other families with inspiration and resources that lead to quality time together and a love for learning!” This non profit 501c3 organization was started so parents would have a family friendly place to come to, feel supported and leave with information that is useful.
