Details: On of the great things about living in Southern Maryland is the strawberry picking opportunities. We have been picking strawberries for over 20 years in SOMD and know all the best places! See the guide for details by county.

    DAILY DOWNTOWN LA PLATA SCARECROW STROLL

    Date:  Throughout October

    Time: All Day

    Location: Down Town La Plata, MD

    Details: Every year the Charles County Chamber of Commerce hosts a scarecrow decorating contest. It’s so much fun to walk around down town to look at all the creative and fun creations. Displays are stationed at various different light poles through out the town of  La Plata; most of the scarecrows are on: Route 6, St. Mary’s Ave, Centennial St, and La Grange Ave. The scarecrows are usually setup a few days before the Fall Festival which was October 13, 2019 this year and will stay up until Halloween.  Some are a little creepy, while others are humorous.

    Location: Milton Somers Community Center

    Details: Our young future chefs will explore a variety of culinary adventures creating unique themed snacks. Chef’s hat and apron are provided. Please bring a container to take home your artistic creations. Adult participation encouraged.

    TRUNK OR TREAT & COMMUNITY DAY AT CALVERT CLIFFS

    Location: Calvert Cliff Nuclear Power Plant - 1650 Calvert Cliffs Pkwy. Lusby, MD

    Details: Pant employees will explain plant operations in the control room simulator, highlight safe maintenance practices through hands-on demonstrations, highlight environmental stewardship with the help of the Department of Natural Resources Scales and Tails program, discuss radiological safety, emergency preparedness and much more!

    Don’t forget to join us in the office facility parking lot for Trunk-or-Treat and listen to a live broadcast with Heather from Star 98.3 and enjoy Hardesty Haven Catering throughout the event!

    We are asking for donations of non-perishable food items for End Hunger Calvert County or a cash donation to United Way of Calvert County. Registration for the event is required for admittance!
