Details: Attention all Homeschoolers! Looking for a creative opportunity in Charles County, MD, that also counts for your child’s academic credit? READ ON! Please share with anyone you think will be interested!

The MCAC Homeschool Program:
The Mattawoman Creek Art Center (MCAC) is announcing a new Youth Art Program for the academic school year 2019 – 2020. “The MCAC Homeschool Art Program” is an educational program to support Charles County home-schooled children with opportunities to learn and explore visual fine arts, art history, the relationships of art and culture, and develop an art appreciation for the creative expressions. The galleries at MCAC will serve as the backdrop to promote engagement in the visual arts.

This is a completely new endeavor for us, seeking to fill what we have found as a gap in opportunities in Southern Maryland for our homeschooling families. We are very interested in hearing the actual desires of the homeschool community, and how we can best serve you as a grant-funded, non-profit art gallery. So, reach out, and please start a conversation with us!

During the academic school year, we currently expect that MCAC’s family-oriented program will be designed for children roughly 11-18 years of age (this may change based on community desires, so let us know!). There are six sessions planned (3 in the fall and 3 in the spring) to provide art lessons to meet Maryland State guidelines and curriculum.

MCAC Homeschool Program Open House:
Bring the family! MCAC will host an “Open House” for our homeschooling families on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at our Art Gallery, 5565 Upham Place (Smallwood State Park) Marbury, MD 20658. Enjoy the artwork of Southern Maryland artists on display. Tour the facility; discuss the opportunities and the syllabus for the 2019 – 2020 academic year. The open house is free; additional sessions throughout the academic school year may be free or exceptionally low cost (small materials costs per student).

JOIN US:
We have limited seating! To register for the “Open House”, mark your attendance by Thursday, September 12, 2019 via this event and let us know how many you’ll be bringing (attendance will not be visible publicly). If you have questions, comment below, message us on FB, email: mattawomanart@aol.com or call: 301-743-5159. We are eager to serve our community!
