Details: PROGRAM IS FREE- LIMITED 20 SPOTS
Olde Tyme Lesson on Horticulture : Join us at our one-room schoolhouse for a lesson on native plants and animals of the Tidewater. (Meet at the South Gatehouse)

Noon & 3:00 pm- 
– Meet the Three Sisters! Visit the Slave Cabin garden to learn more about these “sisters” and how they helped people survive. (Meet at the Slave Cabin)

10:30 am & 1:30 pm
Painting with Nature- Take a walk down to the creek as you gather natural paintbrushes to create your own unique artwork. (Meet at the Warehouse)

Noon & 3:00 pm
Bees Please! Walk through the main gardens of Sotterley and discover and examine important pollinators that fly or crawl and why these insects are important members of our eco-community.

Tidewater Plantation Life - Visit stations throughout the day and learn about the lives of children on a Tidewater plantation!

10:00 am to 1:00 pm 
Come and go, St. Mary’s County History Day Informational Workshop! Are you a St. Mary’s County homeschooler and in 6-12th grade or a parent? Find out about participating in St. Mary’s County History Day, Feb. 23, 2019. (In the Warehouse).

Other things to Explore on your own —
Land, Lives and Labor Exhibit, Slave Cabin Exhibit, Gardens, Trails, bring a picnic lunch, take pictures of nature, fly a kite, bird watch, relax and look at the views, shop at the museum store—only your imagination is the limit.

    Details: You and your child are invited to meet us at the Greenwell Foundation, every Tuesday morning, for outdoor discoveries and learning, from September to May. Activities include: Sensory Play, Games, Songs, Art, Music, Stories, Seasonal Activities, Dance, and More. Age Group: up to 6 years old
    Cost: $5 per child
    Registration: Not required. Children attend with their adult
    Directions: Enter Greenwell State Park on Rosedale Manor Drive, go straight on the gravel, dirt road, between the fields, and take your first right. Park in the lot straight ahead and look for us in the outdoor classroom on the left.

    Details: At the close of the Miocene Epoch, regional waters began to cool as the world entered a new Ice Age. Discover which animals adapted to these changes and which faced extinction as you explore our Treasures from the Cliffs exhibit. Practice excavating a fossil and make your own fossil mold to take home in sessions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Activities appropriate for ages 4 and older.
