February 24th will be a day filled with engaging speakers and hands-on STEAM activities dedicated to empowering girls and young women towards careers in STEAM.
The Town of Indian Head Parks & Recreation Commission is partnering with industry leaders and experts in STEAM to bring attendees a comprehensive overview of how to get involved in STEAM, what STEAM is and how these fields can be used for personal career development.

  • Interested in hearing from innovative women panelists
  • Motivational presentations to inspire young women
  • Hands-on STEAM demonstrations
  • Lunch vouchers for 12:30pm meal provided at 10am Check-In.

    Details: You and your child are invited to meet us at the Greenwell Foundation, every Tuesday morning, for outdoor discoveries and learning, from September to May. Activities include: Sensory Play, Games, Songs, Art, Music, Stories, Seasonal Activities, Dance, and More. Age Group: up to 6 years old
    Cost: $5 per child
    Registration: Not required. Children attend with their adult
    Directions: Enter Greenwell State Park on Rosedale Manor Drive, go straight on the gravel, dirt road, between the fields, and take your first right. Park in the lot straight ahead and look for us in the outdoor classroom on the left.

    SKYLA NIGHT - UNDER THE STARS

    Details: A Special Evening to Benefit Skyla’s Recovery. The James E. Richmond Science Center is holding a public event for the benefit of Skyla Shirriel, the seven-year-old first grader hit by a truck after getting off her school bus. The evening will feature a presentation of one of Skyla’s favorite Science Center movies, as well as a specially designed planetarium show. The sky show will feature the sky the way it appeared the day, time and location where Skyla was born, as well as a tour through our solar system, the heavens, constellations, and other celestial bodies. Science activities for families will also be available.

    Cost: $8 donation/Tickets available at the door (100% of proceeds will benefit Skyla’s recovery)

    Details: Year round except for holidays or other State closings.Enjoy a guided tour of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab), a state-of-the-art facility that houses over 8 million artifacts, including collections from every county in Maryland. Get up close and personal with our conservators and our collections. (a small fee may be charged for large groups)
