Details: Come out to the planetarium for a new monthly planetarium sky shows, highlighting each month’s featured constellations, stars, and planets. FREE! No ticket required. Presented by Educational Systems Federal Credit Union.

    Gills Club Meeting

    The Calvert Marine Museum is proud to announce the addition of a new free program for girls interested in learning more about sharks. Gills Club is a STEM-focused program from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC) with activities designed for girls ages 7 – 12. Meetings will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. Preregistration is required. See link to register. AWSC is raising awareness about white sharks as a keystone species of the ocean ecosystem. It was established to support white shark research and education programs to ensure that this important species thrives. Meeting will be held on Thursdays, December 21, 2017; January 25, 2018; February 22, 2018; March 15, 2018, and April 26, 2018.

    Details: The Homeschool Book Club will feature a well-known book and the movie adaptation of that book to discuss and review. Each book club meeting encourages homeschooled children to read and compare the book to the film. In April, we will read and watch "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. May book feature is Wonderstruck.

    LITTLE EXPLORERS

    Details: Meet at the Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation and see what is growing in their garden! What do you think all their plants are used for?
    Little Explorers discover the world at Historic St. Mary’s City through storytelling, crafts, songs, and outdoor exploration. Preschoolers, ages 3-5, and an accompanying adult are invited to gather at Historic St. Mary’s City for an hour of adventure, fun, and learning twice monthly on Wednesdays in the spring and fall. Each Little Explorers gathering features a different theme.

    The program runs from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Admission is $4 per child for non-members ($3 for Friends members) and accompanying adults visit free. The fee includes full-day admission to the museum. Bring a picnic and spend the day! For more information, contact Sharol at 240-895-4980 or email Programs@HSMCdigsHistory.org.

    Details: Meet at the Shop at Farthing's Ordinary to join the Little Explorers as we sit in the sun and walk down to the water. Parents - we are not planning on wading in. Instead, will soak up the sun and enjoy the day!

    PIRATES FACT OR FICTION- HISTORIC ST. MARYS

    Details: Separate fact from fiction to learn the true and fascinating stories behind the myths and legends that have grown up around pirates. This workshop is filled with hands on activities that will explain pirate punishments, life of the pirate, weapons. For children 11-14 years old. Full payment is due upon the time of registration.
    10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. $30.00 for non-members, $25.00 for members.
    Those registered are to meet at the Shop at Farthing's Ordinary on the morning of the program.
