FAIRY TRAILS: GRAND OPENING

Location: Piscataway Park, Accokeek, MD

Details:  Celebrate the grand opening of the Piscataway Park Fairy Trail on the summer solstice—a magical day for the fairy folk.  For the first time ever, the Forest Fairies of Piscataway Park are opening up their homes and inviting visitors into their world to learn about the forest they call home.

Join us on June 21 from 6-8 pm to get a first look at the fairy trail.  The grand opening will include fairy crafts, special “Fairyologist” guides, face painting, and music. Plus you’ll get your very own Fairyologist Trail Guide to help you explore the forest through the eyes of the fairies.

Cost: General Admission: $5 (Includes admission to the event, a Fairy Trail guidebook, and a DIY fairy wand)/ VIF (Very Important Fairy) Admission: $10 (Includes admission to the event, a Fairy Trail guidebook, a DIY fairy wand, and a magical craft of your choice: a summer solstice suncatcher or a bottle of wishes) Purchase tickets ahead of time.

    NCAC NATIONAL HISTORY DAY

    Details: National History Day is a national competition sponsored by National History Day and National Endowment for the Humanities. Each year, students present and compete on a local, county, state, and national level. The national competition is held at the University of Maryland, College Park—right in our backyard!

    Details: Create your own wooden project each month. All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

    Details: The Accokeek Foundation presents a Black History Month program designed for homeschoolers! Join us on Wednesday, February 5 from 10 am to 12 pm to learn about the struggles of the enslaved and how they communicated through spirituals when planning their escape to freedom, and honor their journey on the Underground Railroad.

    $20/Student or $12/student group of 4+
    (Adults and children under 3 are free)
