    MEET THE AIRPLANE

Location:  Patuxent River Naval Air Museum

Details: Come see the newest addition to the flightline at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum: the V-22 Osprey!

*THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND V-22 TO BE PLACED ON PUBLIC DISPLAY!*

On August 24th, we will have activities for kids and adults along with special guests to speak with, including pilots and engineers involved with the development and testing of the Osprey. There will also be personnel from the Special Operations Cargo Lab with their equipment to demonstrate the various roles of this unique tiltrotor aircraft, currently referred to as "the most in-demand platform in the Department of Defense."

Our aircraft, BUNO (serial number) 164940, was the eighth aircraft to be produced at the Bell-Boeing plant in Arlington, TX, earning it the nickname "the 8-Ball". The 8-Ball spent all of its time attached to HX-21 at Pax River as the structural and dynamic loads test aircraft. It was retired in November 2018 and arrived at the museum in June 2019.

Cost: *Regular admission applies for this event. As always, museum members are free. General Admission $9 for adults, $7 for Active Duty, $7 for Seniors, $4 for kids ages 5-12 and free for kids under 4
