NATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE DAY
Date: August 6-7, 2022

Location: Piney Point Lighthouse in Piney Point, and Blackistone Lighthouse on St. Clement’s Island, near Colton’s Point
Details: The Department of Recreation & Parks’ Museum Division will celebrate some of St. Mary’s County’s most significant lighthouses during National Lighthouse Weekend Saturday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at Piney Point Lighthouse in Piney Point, and Blackistone Lighthouse on St. Clement’s Island, near Colton’s Point.
Tours will be available at both locations during the entire weekend. At Colton’s Point, check out the St. Clement’s Island Museum before taking a boat ride out to St. Clement’s Island. Visitors can experience a free tour of Blackistone Lighthouse from the St. Clement’s Hundred Blackistone Lighthouse volunteers. The lighthouse is a replica of the original lighthouse that stood near the same location on the island.
Cost: Admission rates at St. Clement’s Island Museum are $3.00 for adults, $1.50 for children (6-18), and $2.00 for seniors and military, five and under are free. The St. Clement’s Island Water Taxi is $7.00 per person (all ages) for a boat ride, which includes museum admission.

This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over! Featuring an all-woman cast and all-woman band, SIX has won 23 awards in the 2021/2022 Broadway season, including the Tony Award® for Best Original Score (Music and Lyrics) and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. The Playful Parent was created by Kristy a mother of three energetic boys. She has a Bachelors degree with a interest in Education and Masters in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. “I believe that children learn through play! I love to do fun things with my children and hope that sharing our adventures provides other families with inspiration and resources that lead to quality time together and a love for learning!” This non profit 501c3 organization was started so parents would have a family friendly place to come to, feel supported and leave with information that is useful. This site is kept advertisement and influence free in order to keep the page from clutter and bias opinion. Your support, feedback, likes and comments are essential; this site was designed to connect the community. The Playful Parent offers resources such as guides, calendars and ideas for making learning fun. In addition, TPP is present in the community and hosts a handful of events to support SOMD in raising healthy families.
