Information: Montpelier Farms is open September 18, 2021 – November 7, 2021. September hours- Saturdays 9AM-11PM, Sundays 9AM-7PM. October Fridays 9AM-5PM, Saturday 9AM-11PM and Sundays 9AM-7PM. November Saturday 10AM-9PM and Sunday 11AM-6PM. It’s recommended to purchase tickets online in advanced. Admissions prices are $12 per person, Kids 2 and under are Free! Fall Festival activities include: 7 acre corn maze, “Jack and the Beanstalk” corn maze, hay rides, petting zoo, pedal karts, cow belly bounce house, pumpkin bounce house, hay & play, kiddie corral, corn tepee, roping range, farm football lounge, “Spookley the square pumpkin” movie screening and bonfires.

While you’re here, peruse our pumpkin patch to purchase the best pumpkin for this year’s Jack-o-Lantern! Sign up for a Guided House Tour to get $1 off your pumpkin and show us your library card to get $1 off the price of your admission. Reminder for our members – your admission is FREE!
Proceeds from pumpkin sales will go to supporting our Growing for Good program, which grows fresh produce to donate to our local food banks and pantries. Purchasing your pumpkin with us helps community members in need.
Wagon rides will be limited to 10-15 people per ride, depending on family sizes and ability to social distance. We ask that masks be worn on the ride in the event that social distancing is not possible. Masks are still required in buildings such as the Visitor Center.

Information: Cox Farm Fall Festival was closed last year, so I’m happy to announce they are back in business! Cox Farm is celebrating its 45th annual Fall Festival which runs the weekend of September 18-19 than daily from Sept. 25– Nov. 7 from 10 AM -6 PM. With a map full of outdoor activities, goat village, and Cornundrum Cornfield Adventure you will need more than one visit to see and do everything. This farm features the awesome six lane wide, 150 foot long dinosaur of a slide. Be sure to check out their website for events and live entertainment schedule.

Information: Bowles Farm is set to open September 25, 2021 and will run their annual fall festivities through October 31st. Hours of operation are Friday’s 9:30AM-1:30AM, Saturdays 10AM-6PM and Sundays 10AM-5PM. Admission is $10 per person, free for children ages 3 and younger. Kids of all age will enjoy the amazing corn maze, pumpkin patch, straw jumping pit, children’s play area, wagon rides and more. The farm is open Tuesday-Friday for scheduled school, daycare and play groups.See the flier below for special event days.

Information: Horsmon Farm will open September 24, 2021-October 31, 2021 this year. Fall festivities include hay rides, petting zoo, corn box and straw maze. If you are looking for a place to pick up beautiful flowers this is the place, their mums are gorgeous and home grown. Purchase your tickets in advanced online. BELVEDERE PLANTATION SCHEDULE

Information: Belvedere Plantation is a 645 acre heritage farm, built in the 1760s on the historic Rappahannock River near Fredericksburg, Virginia. You are sure to have hours of fun with attractions like a zipline, straw jump, trike track, pumpkin mountain slide, pedal carts, barrel train and jumping pillow. Check out their website for information on events like the Final Flashlight Maze and Pumpkin Pounding Event. Their 2021 season starts September 18th. Open every days except Monday. The only Monday the farm is open is on Columbus Day.

Details: Middleton’s Legacy Farm Lawnscapes welcomes you to their fall festival. This years grand opening is Friday September 18, 2021. The farm will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 10AM-6PM. The entrance fee is $10/per person. Children ages 2 and under are free. The entrance fee includes access to; farm animals, 3+ acre corn maze, three bounce houses, hay ride, pumpkin patch (pumpkins are available for an additional price) and games. Games include corn hole, pumpkin tic tac toe, pumpkin bowling, bean bag toss and soccer. New this 2020 season- Pumpkin Slingshot, kiddie sorghum maze, sound garden and climbing tire pile.

Details: Friday is the Halloween game with costume contests, fun Halloween games, and even post game trick or treating with the players! That means that all the kids in attendance will be able to trick or treat from the actual players. For Backfin Buddies, they can trick or treat for free, and for all other kids it is $3. It’s a special game time, starting at 5PM so the trick or treating won’t be too terribly late for the littles.

NIGHTTIME CORN MAZE

Roller-skating is one way for kids to get some exercise and it’s something the whole family can do. Waldorf Roller Skating Center Roller and Inline Skating Rink offers open skating, where the rink is open to the public, as well as private access to the skating rink for events such as a birthday party. The rink offers rentals for regular roller skates and you are free to bring your own regular or inline skates. For beginners, skating classes are available for kids and adults of all ages. ***Always call first or check site before attending event***

The Playful Parent was created by Kristy a mother of three energetic boys. She has a Bachelors degree with a interest in Education and Masters in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. “I believe that children learn through play! I love to do fun things with my children and hope that sharing our adventures provides other families with inspiration and resources that lead to quality time together and a love for learning!” This non profit 501c3 organization was started so parents would have a family friendly place to come to, feel supported and leave with information that is useful. This site is kept advertisement and influence free in order to keep the page from clutter and bias opinion. Your support, feedback, likes and comments are essential; this site was designed to connect the community. The Playful Parent offers resources such as guides, calendars and ideas for making learning fun. In addition, TPP is present in the community and hosts a handful of events to support SOMD in raising healthy families.
