This years guide is coming out later than usual. To be honest, I almost didn’t write it at all. I had heard that many of the volunteer fire departments were not going to host Santa runs this year. However, the tune “Here Comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus Lane,” continued playing in my mind.  So after a few requests, here I am writing this years annual Santa Sightings Guide.  This guide will highlight Santa sightings for Southern Maryland Family’s. VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT SANTA RUNS

One of the things my boys look forward to every year around the holiday season is seeing Santa drive past our house on a fire truck! The following Fire Departments host a Santa run schedule each year. The dates and times will be announced over the next few weeks and I will update this article to keep track of it here!!! Keep in mind inclement weather and emergencies can cause delays or schedule changes.

  • BEL ALTON- SCHEDULE LINK – 2022 Santa Run will be Saturday December 10th starting at 5:30 pm in Bel Alton Estates and ending with Sodus Manor off of South Faulkner Road. Only one night this year.
  • BENEDICT VFD- 2022 SCHEDULE LINK This years schedule is as follows: December 16th ~Maxwell Hall and Teagues Point. December 17th ~The Neighborhoods off 231 from Eastern Hills to the Benedict Bridge. December 18th ~The town of Benedict, Sea Gull Beach and the Industrial Park Neighborhoods.
  • BRANDYWINE VFD- SCHEDULE LINK Day 1: Saturday, December 3th, 2022 – Villages of Savannah, Piscataway Landing, Yellow Popular, Danville Estates, Lakeview at Brandywine,  Pleasant Springs, Woodhaven Estates, Lavender Dream Lane, Desert Peace Court, English Point Lane, Dawn Chorus Lane, Chaddsford.   • CHARLES COUNTY EMS– LINK SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*** The Charles County Volunteer Rescue Squad has just received word from Santa Claus himself, and he has let us know he will be joining us in visiting the various neighborhoods in La Plata and the surrounding areas on the following dates! Santa Runs will begin at approximately 6PM and will not last past 8PM. Friday 12/9 Agricopia & King’s Grant. Saturday 12/10 Hickory Ridge, Clark’s Run, Ellenwood, Woodhaven, Robin Road. Friday 12/16 Phoenix Run, Quailwood & Hawthorne Greene. Saturday 12/17 Carmelite Drive/Mimosa Drive, Mt Carmel Estates, Hill Spring Drive, Tiverton, Norwich Ct. Wednesday 12/21 Steeplechase, Locust Grove & Port Tobacco (Shirley, Ann Harbor, Carol, Terry). Friday 12/23- Charleston Terrace, Martin’s Crossing, Patuxent Court, Linden Lane & Frederick Drive.
  • COBB ISLAND- SCHEDULE LINK – CIVFD just received word from SANTA on the date and route for this years SANTA RUN! Sunday December 11, 2022 starting at 11am. Watch their Facebook page on December 11th for updated times to your area!
  • DENTSVILLE- SCHEDULE LINK – Santa Runs are posted and scheduled for Dec 17th, 18th and 21st. There schedule is very thorough so please check their page to see what night is your neighborhood.
  • HUGHESVILLE- SCHEDULE LINK–  Santa Run schedule has been posted. Santa can’t wait to see everyone in our community starting November 27, 2022 – December 11, 2022.
  • INDIAN HEAD 10TH DISTRICT- SCHEDULE LINK – Indian Head VFD announced Santa will be on his rounds December 23, 2022 starting at 6PM.
  • LAPLATA VFD – SCHEDULE Link– La Plata VFD will not be making rounds to the neighborhoods this year. Santa was escorted to the Holiday Party and Tree Light Ceremony on December 4, 2022. See CHARLES COUBTY EMS.
  • LEONARDTOWN VFD- Schedule Link– LVFD Santa Run schedule has been published. Good ole St. Nick will make his rounds December 3, 4, 9, 10, 16 &17,  2022 on select nights.
  • MECHANICSVILLE VFD- SCHEDULE LINK– The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be bringing Santa Claus into your Neighborhood through the dates of December 2 to December 18, 2022. Santa will be riding on a big red firetruck sleigh! An Ambulance will occasionally lead, playing Christmas songs on their PA system. Santa Runs will begin between 5:30 – 6:30 PM and may last up until 9:00 PM. Their crews will cover the streets listed on their site.
  • NANJEMOY VFD- SCHEDULE LINK Nanjemoy Santa runs are scheduled to take place December 16-17, 2022.
  • PRINCE FREDERICK- SCHEDULE LINK– Santa Runs for 2022 are starting December 5th until December 2oth. This years schedule is here.
  • SOLOMONS VRD- SCHEDULE LINK– Solomon’s VFD will host Santa Runs December 15th-18th, 2022. Please visit the events section of their Facebook page to see the route schedule.
  • TENTH DISTRICT VFD- SCHEDULE LINK– Santa will make his rounds on December 17, 2022, see schedule here.
  • WALDORF VFD COMPANY 3- SCHEDULE LINK – Has NOT announced a schedule. You can always double check back on their page.
