Catch some fun and root, root, root for the home team by attending a Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game this summer.  Whether you are a huge sports fan or not, there is something nostalgic about attending a baseball game. I’m thrilled that Southern Maryland has a home team, where I can pass down those cherished trademark memories to my kids. Be a part of “America’s past time” by catching a pop fly, chowing down on a hot dog and singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game.  I put together this guide to showcase some of the reasons why you will want to catch a game this summer at Regency Furniture Stadium.

GET CLOSER TO THE ACTION AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE

One of the best things about attending an independent league game is that you get to catch a action packed game at a fraction of the price. Not only is the price better but the crowd at the ballpark is smaller too. Making the experience less overwhelming and more family friendly. All the seats at the Regency Stadium have an excellent view, no matter where you sit. You can hear the crack of the bat hitting the ball and occasionally even catch pop fly!

KIDS FUN ZONE

From the time my boys could walk, they were interested in the fun zone. You can purchase a wrist band that gives you access to the fun zone for kids ages 4 and up, and free to kids under age 4. In the kids fun zone you will find four play structures; playhouse, playground, pirate ship and castle. There is also a rock climbing wall and moon bounce/slide. Backfin buddies get in for free on Fridays and the Kids Zone is free for all kids on Sunday!

EVENTS/PROMOTIONS

I love that there is an entire event calendar with something different and interesting at almost every home game. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs host a lot of sporting events for fans but also host fundraisers for the community. Events such as the Center for Children’s Touch A Truck are hosted at the stadium, as well as Paint the Park Pink and many more. A few of the fun events this year include Family Sleepover in the Field and Fireworks Spectacular! Southern Maryland Blue Crabs isn’t just about baseball; its about community!

IT’S ALL ABOUT FAMILY FUN

Blue crabs baseball games are designed with families in mind. The staff go above and beyond to make sure games are lots of fun. At nearly every game there is some sort of promotion or giveaway. We’ve brought home bobble head dolls, t-shirts and baseball caps. Our favorite buddy Pinch (the mascot) is always walking around to meet and great fans, as well as dance and entertain. In between innings there is always some sort of little game staged on the field involving kids from the stands.  We attended our first game of the season at the Youth League Night. My baseball boy got to enjoy a game with his team. Be sure to check the calendar because a few nights in the season, they put on a spectacular fireworks display after the game.
