While things aren’t on total lock-down any more they still haven’t returned back to normal yet. With socially distancing restrictions in place in order to help stop the spread of COVID, parents are scrambling for ways to keep the kids occupied.  If you are looking to get out of the house to entertain the kids while still maintaining social distancing protocols than Roers Zoofari is the perfect solution.

GROUP BOYS

My boys and I love taking new adventures; I had heard of the Roers Zoofari before and had been meaning to visit for quite some time. After doing a little research, I discovered the zoo was less than a 45 minutes drive from Charles County. After a day at Roers, I can see what all the hype is about! Honestly, our family found the Zoofari to be more entertaining and interactive than a traditional zoo.

HOW IT WORKS

GIARFF

Roers Zoofari isn’t your ordinary zoo. Located in Vienna, VA is the home of the quaint and unique zoo that is part safari, zoo and barnyard all in one. Roers offers over 30 acres of zoo to explore where animals roam freely instead of being caged up. You will find ordinary animals like goats, pigs and llamas; as well as exotic birds, monkeys and more. Most fascinating on the list were the camels and giraffes. I will never forget the look of excitement as they fed a real giraffe.  The zoo offers a few ways to experience the animals. You can drive thru and feed the animals buffalo, zebras, deer, emus, cattle or walk through the zoo and feed goats, camels, giraffes and more by hand.CARROT

General admission to Roer’s Zoofari includes the safari, so hop aboard the next available bus (they run all day long) and meet some of the creatures who live here. You’ll encounter zebra, bison, buffalo, deer, and other creatures, many of who you’re welcome to feed, as you explore the habitat. The Zoofari also plays host to more exotic animals, like cheetahs and giraffes, pythons and tarantulas, and macaws and parakeets. Explore its many corners to meet all of the critters.

CAMELS

There is plenty to do to keep your family busy all day! For the price of one guests get a safari ride and a petting zoo. I love the play, learn, grow opportunity that the up close experience with the animals offers. We started our day off with the drive-thru zoo. We purchased our tickets in advanced and made our way to the entrance gate where we were given food to feed the animals. We were given the chance to drive around the safari circle twice.

LLIAM FEED

During out next part of the adventure, we parked the car and entered the outdoor walk-thru zoo. For an additional fee, we grabbed more food cups (lettuce and carrots) to feed the animals. I think our favorite part was feeding the giraffe.  We also enjoyed the camel rides! To learn more be sure to visit their website at www.roerszoofari.com
