While riding the Santa Express has only been a Christmas tradition for our family for the past three years; the Strasburg Railroad has been welcoming Santa into town since 1959. That’s right, Santa himself will climb aboard the historic steam train to greet families aboard Strasburg Rail Road’s Christmas Trains; Santa’s Paradise Express, The Night Before Christmas Train, and Santa’s Trolley. Details: Each weekend beginning Nov. 23, families can travel down the tracks and enjoy a visit by Santa on the Santa’s Paradise Express. With a special gift for good boys and girls, Santa will greet each passenger in their seats and families will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with him. At the station Mrs. Claus will be available to help finalize letters to Santa and visitors can enjoy a ride aboard the Tinsel Trolley, a self-propelled motorcar, and hear storybook readings of holiday classics aboard a heated stationary Caboose.

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS TRAIN

Prices: Adults $20,00; Children (ages 2-11) $14.00; Infants (ages 1 and under) $4;

Christmas Feast price including train excursion and dinner: $53 per adult, $31.50 per child (2-11), and $14 per infant (1 and under).

Details: Friday nights beginning December 5, the magic of Christmas Eve is recreated aboard The Night Before Christmas Train. Passengers can wear their pajamas and enjoy cookies and milk as they travel down the tracks. As the train travels, a reader dressed in a Victorian nightshirt and cap will read aloud the classic poem, “The Night Before Christmas.” At the station visitors can enjoy storybook readings of holiday classics aboard a heated stationary Caboose and a ride aboard the Tinsel Trolley, a self-propelled motorcar. In conjunction with The Night Before Christmas Train, visitors can also enjoy a Christmas Feast on board the Lee E. Brenner Dining Car. The menu offerings include freshly carved honey glazed ham and slow cooked turkey, sides such as mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, honey glazed carrots, and a choice of dessert.

SANTA’S CHRISTMAS TROLLEY

Details: Santa’s Christmas Trolley takes to the tracks beginning December 13. This exclusive ride aboard the historic LO&S Motorcar affords children and their grown-ups the opportunity to visit with Old St. Nick in a magical “sleigh” of a very different sort. During the 45-minute trip to Paradise and back, children 11 years and younger will be able to have their professional photo taken with Santa as they talk with him about what they are looking forward to this Christmas. Once back at the station, families will be able to pick up their keepsake 5X7 photos of their children with Santa. All this is included in your ticket price.
