Middleton’s Legacy Farm Lawnscapes celebrated it’s grand open in the Fall of 2019 and is open once again for the 2020 season. Many families were sad to see Middleton’s Cedar Hill Farm officially close and are excited for the local alternative. While Legacy Farms and Cedar Hill are not connected they are both owned by members of the Middleton family and are neighboring farms on the family owned property. Legacy Farm owned by Bret Middleton has been around since 2011. The business started off as a lawn care company and in 2016 Brett took over the popular family Christmas tree operation. In 2019, Legacy Farm expanded even further to include agri-tourism as a part of their farms initiative.

Legacy Farm’s fall festival celebrated it’s opening weekend of September 19, 2020 and will remain open every Friday through Sunday from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM through October. General admission is $10 per person, children ages 2 and under are free. Entrance fee includes 3+ acre corn maze, small hay bail maze, hay ride, pick your own pumpkin patch (pumpkins available for purchase), farm animals, 3 bounce houses and a variety of games. During the grand opening, The Playful Parent had the pleasure of providing free take and make craft. Each week there are different bands, venders and activities available so be sure to follow their Facebook page to see what’s happening on the day you plan to visit.

Our family really enjoyed the laid back feel of Legacy Farm; it was nice to unwind from the busy week with some good old fashioned fun on the farm. One of the first things we did was visit with a variety of farm animals including; goats, pigs, bunnies and cows. We purchased a small bag of food for a $1 to feed the animals, which is very entertaining.

Next, we hopped on the hayride for a tour around the farm. The ride itself is beautiful and touring the farm is full of history. The family owned farm has been established since the 1660’s. Many changes have occurred over the past few decades as far as what crops to grow and harvest. The farm focuses their agricultural development on cattle, pumpkin and Christmas tree crop. After touring the farm we were dropped us off at the pumpkin patch; where we were able to pick the perfect pumpkin.

Once returning to the main section of the farm we were all pretty hungry for lunch. The week we visited there were a few food trucks and local crafters. We enjoyed some BBQ for lunch and even splurged on some tasty treats from Shugies Cookies who was selling homemade cupcakes, brownies and cookies.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing and having fun; enjoying family games and even sitting back in an Adirondack chair while watching the kids play.  A plethora of games were available to choose from including; corn hole, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, pumpkin bowling and life sized connect four and Jenga. If your little’s are anything like mine they will probably gravitate to and want to spend a great deal of time jumping around on the three different moon bounces.

New for the 2020 Season….

This years corn maze has clues which are provided through scanning codes on your phone and answering fun trivia questions to get through the maze. Also, the pumpkin launching sling shots added this year were a huge favorite of my boys. You will notice a sound garden and giant spider crawl through is new as well.

TIPS

  • Bring a camera! There are some excellent photo opportunities.
  • Check the farms Facebook page out to see what local bands or activities will be available the day you visit.
  • This farm is mostly flat so bringing a all-terrain wagon or stroller will work (No small wheeled or umbrella strollers.)
  • Be sure to check out the vendors they have some great local artists selling items at reasonable prices.
