Summer is definitely here and you can tell by the weather that has been scorching hot these past few weeks! Finding a pool to stay cool in is a huge necessity in order to beat the heat. You don’t have to look very far to find excellent swimming facilities in Southern Maryland though. Calvert County has some amazing pools that are perfect for families who enjoy summer fun in the sun! They have three facilities including; Cove Point Pool in Lusby, Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center in Prince Frederick and Kings Landing Pool in Huntingtown and there is also the popular water park in Chesapeake Beach.

You are sure to be delightfully surprised by all that Cove Point Pool has to offer. This huge outdoor facility has something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Start off by taking a dip in the large pool with a shallow end for splashing around in. This pool also features eight lanes for swimming laps and a deep end with a one and a half meter diving board for the more advanced swimmers.

The facility has a awesome children’s wading pool for those ages five and under.  The wade pool is shaded and gated in. What Cove Point is popular for though, is the leisure pool with exquisite water features. Stay cool under the umbrella rainfalls or get splashed by dumping buckets of water. Test your skills on the obstacle course or enjoy take a splash down one of the water slides. There are two large slides for those who can swim and are 48 inches and taller. Don’t worry the little ones have a slide option too!  There are a pair of slides perfect for those who don’t meet the height requirement for the larger slide.

CHESAPEAKE BEACH WATER PARK

CBWP IMAGE.jpg

There’s no better way to spend a hot summers day than a dip in a pool! The Chesapeake Beach Water Park is the perfect family-friendly spot to cool off. Be prepared to have fun on the many slides and lazy river, or even relax under a water fall or under your own private cabana. What’s great about Chesapeake Beach Water Park is that it’s smaller than a theme park yet has enough activities for all ages to keep your whole family entertained for an entire day. We went on a weekday and felt like the park was busy yet not overwhelmingly crowded. Unlike most water parks, there weren’t long lines for the slides or other attractions.

For the little ones they have a hand full of smaller slides shaped like fun beach themed figures: Clam, frog, pirate ship, shell and yellow mountain. The slides are perfect for providing a safe thrill perfect for there age.  There is a awesome section for toddlers located near the front of the park. This includes a zero depth entry to a shallow pool area and fun water features. It’s great that the park provides something for all ages. For the big kids there are two slides that are for those 48″ or taller. The blue tunnel slide is for riding down on your back. The white slide you can go down on a double or single inner-tube. There is plenty to do as a family. My personal favorite is the lazy river. I enjoyed sitting back to relax and enjoy a slow ride that offers a tour of the water park.
