We have been attending the annual Lattes With Lambs event at National Colonial Farm for over three years now. Around March every year the farm welcomes new Hog Island Lambs and Milking Devon calves. To mark the occasion and share these adorable frolicking friends the farms hosts Lattes With Lambs in April. This event offers a great opportunity to welcome the new babies, ask questions and learn all about the farm. If you haven’t been to Lattes With Lambs before, you should definitely attend this year. I know I won’t be missing it; especially since Wee Bean Coffee will be there!!!

There are fewer than 200 nationally registered Hog Island sheep and Milking Devon cattle in the U.S. The Accokeek Foundation works to increase awareness about these special breeds of endangered domesticated livestock by promoting and preserving heritage breeds through a managed breeding program, demonstration, and education. Proceeds from Lattes with Lambs support the Accokeek Foundation’s Heritage Breed Livestock Conservation program.

Meet the National Colonial Farm’s new baby lambs and calves at the 5th annual Lattes with Lambs barnyard festival! Enjoy coffee from local WeeBean Coffee Roasters and Krispy Kreme donuts, sheep shearing demonstrations, milking demonstrations, wool spinning demonstrations, a 4-H livestock show, and live music. PLUS! This year’s Lattes includes a very special treat. Everyone’s favorite Hog Island sheep, Sir Nigel, will be wed to Lady Aster in a special ceremony during the event. The couple invites all event guests to join in their nuptial celebration. Music by Broad Run String Band and activities for the whole family. All activities are included in the price of ticket. Food and beverages are at an additional cost.

  • Spring time on the farm can be a splashing good time. Dress for puddles. We always wear rain boots. Don’t wear your fancy Sunday bests.
  • Take cash so you can get donuts and coffee quick and easy.
  • Bring your camera, there will be lots of adorable moments to capture.
  • Come on time, parking fills up fast.
