It has been a few months since The Playful Parent has host a family board game night and it is long over due! I have been working hard to plan the next event and can’t wait to share the new games that have been added to the collection. There are three awesome games I will be highlighting in this article. I selected these games in particular because the companies who made them truly value the importance of quality family time and bringing people together. I hope that reading this article will get you and your family hyped to come out and play with The Playful Parent this November.

SUPER MARIO BROS

Survive the perils of the Mushroom Kingdom using your wits, deduction skills and luck. Keep or trade Level cards to avoid having the fewest coins each round or you might lose an extra life! Play “? Block” power-ups to gain an advantage, or try and make it safely to the Castle. The last player left with extra lives wins the game! Let’s a go! This game is available online through USAOPOLY

DINO  DOMINO

One of my favorite toy companies, Goliath Games has donated a few more board games over the past few months. Of these games I want to feature a game called Domino Junior Friends. I selected this game because it highlights to the companies passion for creating toys and games that inspire young minds to reach beyond their imagination. The companies slogan is “Clever Together!” This game shows just how true that statement is.  Domino Junior Friends reinforces children’s critical thinking and problem solving skills as they build a master piece.

For that won’t extinct, your are sure to love this stunt domino set that is designed especially for younger children ages 3 and up. The domino’s have been redesigned for little hands; so that they can build with no problems. The game even comes with an easy-to-use domino spacer tool that helps you line up the dominoes. I love that you can use Dino friends in your chain reaction creation.

OREGON TRAIL

I have to admit my husband and I were geeking out when the Oregon Trail game came in the mail. It took me back to the late 80’s, early 90’s when Oregon trail was the fun computer game of my generations childhood. In this fun strategy style game, players are taken back to 1844. Your character in the game embarks on a journey by wagon train headed to Willamette Valley to find your fortune in the West! Just like in the computer game you will need to hunt for food, keep  supplies and take care of family members in order to keep moving along the trail. The iconic cards capture the challenges you will face including: disease, drowning, rattlesnakes and other hazards that will plague you along the way. Hopefully by the end of the game you will find yourself safe, in Willamette Valley.
