With Maryland STEM Festival kicking off today; I wanted to feature an article and giveaway to celebrate. STEM is probably something most readers already know all about. Just in case it’s new to readers; STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I love engaging my kids in STEM projects and couldn’t be more excited that there is a week long festival held to honor STEM.

So why is STEM so important? I’m a big believer that learning and playing go hand in hand; STEM learning provides the perfect opportunity for this. Not only does STEM offer the chance for hands-on and minds-on learning; it is extremely important because our world depends on these four pieces. Making math and science both fun and interesting helps kids to do much more than just learn but form a passion for these high demand careers. As technology moves forward and evolves, it’s more important than ever to focus on STEM.

STEM KICK-OFF & GIVEAWAY

We were excited that our 4-D Chef kit came in the mail. The boys enjoyed immersing in the world of Professor Maxwell’s 4D Kitchen to discover the science behind food with 18 interactive recipes that come alive in augmented reality! My boys enjoyed putting on their apron and chef hat to make tasty recipes. Some of our favorite recipes are blue berry muffins, pizza and rock candies. The kit explains a lot of interesting topics such as: What’s the difference between good fat and bad fat? What is Gluten? Why do apples brown? Through interactive videos and apps, Professor Maxwell explains the wonders of food science; while teaching you many of his favorite recipes.
