Where has the time gone? Summer break is feeling shorter and shorter as it closes in on us fast! With the first day of school just around the corner, it’s time to start getting ready. Charles County students return to school September 3, 2019 and there are already events coming up this weekend. Here is a resource guide that will help families in preparing for a smooth transition back to the academic year. I hope these resources are helpful. ORIENTATIONS AND OPEN HOUSES
Charles County Board of Education – The Charles County School orientations schedule lists all details on each schools orientation date and time. Open houses are also already set for September see the Open house schedule.
Calvert County Board of Education– Calvert schools have published there CCPS Calendar which shows orientation for teachers & students, as well as start dates for each grade.
St. Mary’s County Public Schools- St. Mary’s has a great back to school planning guide for parents & students on their site that list all the information you need to know for preparing for back to school.

EARLY CHILDHOOD DAY

Details: The 2019 Charles County Early Childhood Day is a free event that provides parents, caregivers, and early childhood professionals with resources to help children get a jump start on education. Engaging activities for young children will be provided by the vendors in attendance.

Details: Celebrate the end of another successful Summer Reading Program at the Dahlgren Library! All with base access are invited for an afternoon of fun including a dunk tank, bounce house, crafts, hot dogs, chips & refreshments (while supplies last). The NSASP School Liaison Officer will be on-site with valuable resources and handing out various school supplies, while supplies last.
Military One Source, Fleet & Family Support Center and Navy Child & Youth Programs will be on-site with information tables.

Details: Kick off the school year at the 4th Annual “Back-to-School” Community Fiesta. “The Community Fiesta is a great opportunity for students to have fun while learning.” Raffles, giveaways, and light refreshments will be available. Remember to arrive early, as the first 200 students present will receive a backpack.

Details: The afternoon will be filled with fun for kids + resources for families. St. Charles Towne Center will be giving away tote sacks + water bottles to the first 150 guests who sign up for Family at Simon or show their Simon at family card.
