One thing that makes my heart sing more than anything else is seeing families out having fun. It is an honor to provide resources to the community and it is even more exciting to see the purpose of The Playful Parent coming alive. Providing opportunities for learning through play and family bonding in the community is what The Playful Parent is all about. I was overwhelmed with the feedback of how helpful and how needed the resource is.

 

ABOUT THE PLAYFUL PARENT

The Playful Parent was published in 2016 by myself Kristy. I am a mother of two energetic boys. I have a masters degree in clinical community counseling from Johns Hopkins University and a under graduate degree in art education. I believe that children learn through play! I love to do fun things with my children and hope that sharing our adventures provides other families with inspiration and resources that lead to quality time together and a love for learning! I started this site so parents would have a family friendly place to come to, feel supported and leave with information that is useful. This site is kept advertisement and influence free in order to keep the site from clutter and non-bias opinion. Since it is non-monetized and profit free; your feedback, likes and comments on social media is how I get support from other companies to provide the community with FREE events and information.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING

Something very important to me is providing frequent community events. Past events have included; educational programs, family board game nights, toy testing parties, summer camp fairs and more. It is an honor to bring free events to the community and something I hope to continue to bring in the future. Don’t worry if you miss events that sound fun, the next event is coming soon! The Playful Parent collaborated with The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs to provide a family fun night that offered discounted tickets and special entertainment for families on Sunday June 10, 2018. I chose to work with the Blue Crabs because it is a place that our family really enjoys coming. We attend almost every Backfin Buddy game and highly recommend this as a fun family outing.
