Free concerts, movies and show OH MY! Did you know that there are a plethora of free summer concerts, movie and shows perfect for families in the DMV and Southern Maryland area? You won’t want to miss these free family friendly entertainment spots.



Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting June 18, 2018 Xscape Theatre’s will offer FREE Kids’ Summer movies.  Doors open at 9:00 AM and shows start at 9:30 AM. The following movies will be showing this summer. Regal Cinema charges only $1 admission to see summer movie selections. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Will Rogers Institute. Movies on the Beach are projected onto a large, inflatable screen in the sand. Bring your beach chair or blanket and get comfy on the beach! In addition to movies on the beach. Don’t miss out on Town a “drive-in” movie in the Fall in the visitor parking. Movies  start at dusk.

The Town of La Plata is hosting summer concerts May-September every Friday at 7PM weather permitting. The weekly concerts take place outside on the lawn at La Plata Town Hall; so bring your lawn chairs or blankets for sitting. Feel free to pack a cooler (no alcohol permitted) or enjoy concession from local vendors.  Your little ones will have a ball in the kid’s zone which allows parents to enjoy the concert while keeping an eye on the kiddos. The town provides bubbles, chalk, hula hoops and balls. Don’t forget to bring a bathing suit or extra change of clothes since the splash pad is turned on. With a variety of music styles ranging from oldies to country or jazz to classic rock there is something for everyone. SMCM 2017 River Concert SeriesThe 20th annual River Concert Series runs each Friday from June 22 – July 20 with the final concert on Saturday, July 21. Concerts are free and open to the public, beginning at 7 p.m. on Townhouse Green. Vendors for food and drink are on site. The Town of La Plata will host five summer shows for kids at Town Hall.  The shows are geared towards preschool and elementary age children and are approximately 45 minutes long.  The shows are free and open to the public.  Shows will be held outdoors on the West lawn where the Friday night concerts take place (weather permitting – shows will not be moved indoors).  Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for sitting.  No concessions will be available, but you are welcome to bring drinks and snacks along.   2018 Schedule:
