CALLING ALL EDUCATORS!!
The Museum of Science Fiction invites educators, students and homeschooling groups to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics on May 25th from 10am to 1pm.
In partnership with the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation, the Museum of Science Fiction’s educational mission is to share and use science fiction as a tool to inspire imagination and motivate project-based learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).  The Museum of Science Fiction celebrates creativity and ingenuity with workshops for students that are designed to promote STEAM and  higher-order thinking skills. Students can learn how to build a robot and program it to follow directions. They can see what it takes to build a computer and how to code with Scratch. Students may also attempt intricate engineering projects using only straws and pipe cleaners. Using science fiction as a frame of reference, students build working knowledge of their world through hands-on projects and guided exploration. Some examples of fun workshops include:Learn the secrets of slime with the Ghostbusters! Play with robots courtesy of DC Coder Kids! Discover the key to computer coding with Boolean Girl!

Can’t make it Friday? Have no fear! The Museum of Sci Fiction is hosting a convention called Escape Velocity Memorial Weekend.
What is Escape Velocity?
A 3-day event featuring over-the-horizon technology and panels on hard science and pop culture. Hands-on STEAM activities for kids. Amazing costumes and evening events for adults. Screenings of 2001: A Space Odyssey, film festival, astronauts, authors, artists, gaming, and much more!
