Tomorrow marks the first day of Spring so I thought it would be fun to share a couple of  Spring/Easter themed crafts for this weeks Homemade Monday series. It’s always good to have a few rainy day activities on hand; these crafts are sure to come in handy with the rainy days of spring showers that lead to May flowers coming up.

BABY CHICK POPSICLE STICK CRAFT

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 3 Yellow Jumbo Popsicle Sticks by Darice
  • Double Sided Scrapbooking tape or Glue
  • Yellow & Orange Paper (Card-stock is beset)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Googly Eyes

C-TRIAGNLE.jpgHOW TO MAKE YOUR POPSICLE STICK CHICK:

Count out three popsicle sticks and secure the sticks together in a triangle shape. I prefer to use the scrapbooking tape because it doesn’t have to dry and safer to use with kids than hot glue.

Trace the triangle shape you have made with your popsicle sticks on a piece of yellow paper. Cut out the triangle a little smaller than traced and secure to the back of the popsicle stick triangle.

Next, trace your little ones hands and then cut out the hand tracing. The hand prints will be the chicks wings. Secure them to the back of the chick.

To complete your popsicle stick baby chick add a beak using orange paper and the googly eyes.

Lastly, I added a magnet to the back of the craft in order to display it on the fridge. CHICK - FACE.jpg

POPSICLE STICK SPRING GARDEN

SPRING GARDEN.jpgWHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 7 Jumbo Plain Colored or White Popsicle Sticks by Darice
  • 3 Green Plastic Straws
  • 3 Mini Paper Cupcake Cups
  • Double Sided Scrapbooking tape or Glue
  • Assorted Colored Pom Poms
  • Green Paper

GARDEN STRAWHOW TO MAKE YOUR POPSICLE STICK CARROT CRAFT:

First secure your popsicle stick together to create the base of the craft to look like a picket fence.

Flip the fence down with the back facing up and secure down the three straws.

Now for the fun part, you get to decorate the front of your fence. Press out the cupcake tins so they are flat and tape to the top of the straws. Next, add colorful pom poms in the middle of the cupcake tins.

Lastly, add your decorative elemenst. For an example you can make little leaves, butterlies and bees out of pom poms and paper.
