Can you believe that it’s that time of year to begin planning for the summer. It may seem early; however, summer camps are already booking fast. This fair will feature information about the summer camps and programs available in our area that promote a love for learning over the summer.
For those new to the site, The Playful Parent is a free resource to the community that promotes learning through play. As you can imagine, one of the biggest things on my mind is helping Southern Maryland Families by providing resources for the summer, especially those that prevent brain drain! Brain drain or summer learning loss is when the information gained during the academic year is lost. That is why it is so important to keep kids active and involved over the summer.
What does your family plan to do this year to prevent brain drain? Come to the summer camp fair to learn about local camps and programs. The Playful Parent will have a resource table setup with fun ideas and games that help promote ideas for learning through play over the summer to prevent brain drain. There will also be great giveaways and door prizes.
