All seven Charles County Public high schools have their shows scheduled for this Spring.  Our family is a bunch of theater nerd, fun fact…my husband and I met through The Port Tobacco Players Theater over 17 years ago. I also met my lead craft editor Heather through PTP as well. Her husband is a theater teacher at St. Charles High School. As you can guess we are extremely excited about the hard work these students have put into the productions. It’s a great line up and sure to be entertaining.  Come out to enjoy a show and support youth in the arts.

The first show to open this spring is St. Charles High Schools production of Once on This Island. Let start the spring musical season off with lots of support to the students who have worked so hard. Details to win tickets to Once on This Island at the bottom of the article.

The Addams Family

The Addams Family is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The show is based upon The Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams in his single-panel gag cartoons, which depict a ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre. The Little Mermaid

May 3-5, 2018

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.”
Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

TIPS

  • Teachers with a badge get FREE admission. This is for employees only. DOES NOT include family members of employees.
  • Many of these shows are family friendly. Keep in mind that every child is different, I recommend bringing children who have a developed attention span. Fall shows typically don’t have music and last about an hour and a half in length.
  • Be prepared that if you see the last performance of the show there will be time spent at the end of the play to show appreciation to the director and production staff. This means after bows you might stay extra time to hear a speech or see flowers/gifts given out.
