Tent of Many Colors

Details:  Join Annmarie Garden in their Tent of Many Colors, a colorful indoor tent, where everyone is welcome to relax, talk, and color!

Whether you like to color or not, you will love hanging out in our fabulous indoor tent of many colors. With couches, pillows, tables, chairs, and more, the tent is a peaceful place to relax and hang out with a friend! For those who like to color, there will be lots of books, pages, and supplies or bring your favorites.

All ages welcome! Light snacks will be available.

Admission is free during MLK Days, Jan. 13-15; otherwise, regular admission fees apply.

14th Annual SOMD Prayer Breakfast

January 15, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:00 AM
Details: Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the 14th Annual Southern Maryland Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 15, at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m. and costs $10 payable at the door. The program will begin at 8 a.m. at no cost, featuring a keynote address by Nandi Crosby-Jordan ’91. Following the program, beginning at 10 a.m. the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.©, Nu Zeta Omega Chapter will host a Day of Service, providing services and activities for students of all ages and adults. The breakfast and program will be held in the J. Frank Raley Great Room, Campus Center (18952 E. Fisher Road). The Day of Service will be held within Cole Cinema, Campus Center. Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with activities throughout the day.  The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture is offering live performances, discussions, films and crafts that reflect on the work of the Civil Rights Leader.  A concert,  “Man of Peace:  The 50th Anniversary of the Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.” features choral presentations and spoken word set to chamber music written by composer Benny Russell and performed by Peabody’s Tuned In Orchestra.  Many additional programs are offered.  This special program is offered for a reduced admission of $5 and requires an RSVP to 443-263-1800.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade

The annual celebration not only honors Dr. King, but pays homage to others continuing his legacy. The event steps off at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street, proceeds south on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and disbands at Baltimore Street. The annual parade honors the immeasurable contributions of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast

January 15, 2018 from 8am-10am
This year’s theme is “Keep on Pushing.”  Dr. Gail Christopher, D.N., Founder of the Ntianu Center for Nature and Healing will deliver the keynote address.  Dr. Christopher is an award winning social change agent known for pioneering work in holistic health and diversity in public sector programs and policies.  The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast tickets are $35 plus donated canned goods for the County Food Bank.
