If you have small children, or cats, your tree probably looks like ours and has nothing on the bottom half.  Here are ornaments that are kid friendly, for that bottom half, and break resistant, for those persistent cats.

  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Thread or Embroidery Floss
  • Needle
  • Stuffing
  • Ribbon

Craft:

  1. Draw or trace your shape onto your felt and cut out a pair of them. If you want to add decorative ribbon or stitch an initial on one piece it’s easiest to do before the next step.

  1. Stitch the two pieces together using a running stitch (the red star) or a blanket stitch (the green bulb) – any stitch that holds the two pieces together will work, but these two offer a more traditional look. Before it is stitched all the way closed, add a small amount of stuffing to add some body to the ornament.

  1. Finish stitching the ornament closed. Stitch a ribbon to the top and hang on tree.
