LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

SH- HANDS

Since I’m a huge advocate for learning through play; my favorite section of the farm is Mrs. Moo’s Little Hands. A hands on interactive area where kids learning about farming. Kids pick up a market bag and walk around different stations and pick up foods for their bag along the way. At the different stations kids learn about; where eggs come from, how to milk a cow and the process for how fruits and vegetables grow.

TIPS

SH- BOOTS

  • Enjoy time at the front of the farm first. Check out the bounce house, slide, little hands and other activities first. Grab a bite to eat than hop on a hayride to the back of the farm where the maze and pumpkin patch are located. Complete the maze first and than pick the perfect pumpkin. This way you don’t have to haul heavy pumpkins through the maze and around the farm.
  • I can’t stress enough comfort over fashion! Leggings get snagged on hay. It’s to dusty or even muddy sometimes to wear open toed shoes. I personally find wearing jeans and cowgirl boots to be the perfect way to go no matter what the weather.
  • Come hungry! The food vendors are amazing. I can’t eat old bay due to allergy but everyone around me was in heaven while they were eating their crab cakes. I personally enjoyed an old fashioned hot dog and fresh squeezed lemonade. Be sure to eat the ice cream, nothing is better than home made fresh churned ice cream.
  • I highly recommend attending a special event at the farm. The Fall Festival, Moo-vie Night and Trunk or Treat are a lot of fun!!!
