For this craft, you can either cut out shapes using craft paper or construction paper or use the FREE printable worksheet I created.

OPTION ONE:

If you decide to cut out your own shapes than you will need to cut out: 1 large red square for the engine cab (3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches), 1 large red rectangle for the body of the truck (3 1/2 x 6 inches), 1 long yellow rectangle for the ladder (1 1/2 x 4 inches), 1 small white square for the window (1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch), 1 small yellow rectangle for the emergency light (1 1/2 x 1/2 inch) and 3 small black circles for the wheels (use a quarter to measure size). Next, its time to arrange the shapes on a piece of paper and glue the shapes down using a glue stick.

OPTION TWO:

If you choose to use the print off version, print the pre-designed layout on white paper. Next, assist your little one in coloring in the shapes. You will see a sample of what the engine should look like. Color the large square and rectangle red. Leave the small white square white. Color the small quadrilateral  and long narrow rectangle yellow. Color the three small wheels black. Cut out each shape, than arrange the shapes on a piece of paper and glue the shapes down using a glue stick.
