SCARY STROKES SPOOKTACULAR SNEAK PEEK

Playing miniature golf is a fond memory from my childhood that I hope to pass on to my children. When I heard that a new indoor mini golf and arcade was coming to our area I was excited. I know a lot of families have complained about there not being enough to keep youth busy or to do together as a family in Charles County. That is why I’m happy that there is an option for family fun that is located right here in Waldorf.

Scary Strokes is a new facility that hopes to open it’s doors next weekend. They have their fingers crossed to finish up last minute details and inspection for the grand opening in mid-October. Please stay tuned for an exact date.

Scare Strokes is a 11,500 square foot facility that features a 18 hole indoor glow miniature golf course themed with various family friendly monsters, ghosts and ghouls. At Scary Strokes you can play a round of golf under black-lights and test out your skills playing the most current state-of the-art video and redemption based arcade games.

Most of the games are setup to dispense tickets to collect and redeem for a prize. I was pretty impressed with the choices offered.

There is also a snack bar on site where you can grab a quick bite to eat and quench your thirst. Food selections include snacks such as pizza, pretzels and french fries.

It’s obvious that the main priority at Scary Strokes is to offer fun and memorable experiences to family after talking to the owners Doug and Laneta.  They shared with me that while on vacation in Florida their family had an amazing time playing miniature golf. Doug and his wife started talking about how important family friendly entertainment is and started dreaming about how they could create the perfect place. Slowly they turned their dream into reality.

A great amount of time and love has gone into creating Scary Strokes.  I was taken back by the beautiful hand painted murals that were personally created by a professional mural company called Art Attack. I love how the theme is a bit scary; however, the characters are still a bit whimsical. I think my favorite was the painting that resembled Count Dracula from Hotel Transylvania.

Like most entertainment facilities, party rooms are available to rent. What I was really impressed with was that the owners understood the importance of making birthdays a stress free and special day. I was really struck by the idea that the birthday kid gets to paint their own golf ball which they can use when they golf at Scary Strokes. It’s also amazing that hosting birthday parties is taken seriously by bringing in the children’s entertainer “The Balloon Nerd” himself to train staff.
