Cherry Crest Adventure Farm is a family fall favorite of ours. Every year we take a trip up to Strasburg, Pennsylvania to enjoy a beautiful fall foliage train ride and to visit Cherry Crest Adventure Farms. This guide was updated October 2018 to provide additional information and a look at what’s new this year. Each year Cherry Crest expands and provides new activities for families.
ABOUT CHERRY CREST
Nestled right in the heart of Pennsyvania Dutch Land this working farm is the perfect place to harvest wholesome family fun. It’s a added bonus that the Pennsylvania Railway runs through the property. You can ride the train to the farm or just enjoy watching the locomotive travel by. This spot was specifically chosen for its proximity to the railroad line; the owners knew that it would be fun and convenient for families.
Cherry crest has a way with cultivating learning and agricultural awareness through activities that are hands on and fun filled. The Fall season is open September 14- November 3, 2018. Hours are Thursdays 10 AM – 5PM/Fridays & Saturdays 10 AM – 10 PM/Closed Sunday- Wednesday. Tickets start at $17 week days/ $20 weekends for ages 3 and up. Ages 2 and under are free. Season passes are also available at a great price. Ticket Link Admission includes over 50 activities, free parking and amazing maze adventure.
WHY CHERRY CREST IS THE BEST
It’s seems like just yesterday we took our first trip to Cherry Crest. This photo was taken two years ago. Looking back on my favorite memories from the past; I was most excited to rest in a hammock with my feet up and baby nestled in my arms.
This year my favorite memory was exploring the farm with energetic and independent boys and their two best friends. Now that they are older they make sure to explore every nook and cranny of the farm and want to make sure they accomplish everything there is to see and do. Which if you have ever been to Cherry Crest, you know what a huge task that is! Just like previous years I was over come with joy that we were able to spend a whole day where everyone could have fun, relax and even have opportunities to learn through play. To understand better why this farm is great, you need to watch the 2018 Farm Visit Video or see pictures of the activities available. Some of our favorite activities include:
Rubber Ducky Races
Lil Cabin Building
Giant Hay Bail Chute
Little Farmer Play Land
NEW IN 2017
Don’t miss out on brand new activities available this summer…. Last year Cherry Crest added apple canons, that are the bomb! My boys were fired up to launch apples at targets with a giant air gun. This year they added:
Round Bale Racers
Twisted Tail Rope Making
Battle Zone and Paint Ball Range
Sproutsville is a tiny town where little ones can use their imaginations to work in the villages Bake Shop, School House, Post Office, Veterinarian’s, Farm or Tractor Shop.
Baby Care Center
Cherry Crest continues to put family first. This spacious and function Baby Care Center is a parents dream. There are private nursing and changing stations.
COME HUNGRY…THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC!
The farm has plenty of picnic tables if you choice to bring your own food. However, the food at Cherry Crest is delicious, so we always enjoy splurging. Nothing beats fresh squeezed lemonade and hot roasted kettle corn. The Chuck Wagon Cafe and Grill has mouth watering pulled pork. During the Fall season my boys loves to start off the day with fresh baked apple cider donuts and end the day with S’mores over a fire pit after the sun goes down. New this Fall 2018 is Granny’s Kitchen where you can get Fry Pies. I had the chicken pot pie one and it was scrumptious.
I love that Cherry Crest is family owned and family focused. The owners think like parents do and know the importance of hospitality, convenience and wholesome family fun. From kid friendly music playing in the back ground to offering high chairs in the cafe they think of every detail. The weather was hot but they know the importance of hydration and staying cool. On hot days they have misters blowing to keep cool. During the chiller months they will have fire pits lit to keep warm by. They have changing stations and nursing rooms. Some may disagree but I think it is great that they are closed Sundays in order to give employees time with their own families.
