DIY NO SEW KNIGHTS COSTUME

This weekend we plan on visiting Maryland Renaissance Festival. My husband and I have always enjoyed attending Ren Fest in full garb and wanted to include our children in the fun. While I enjoy historically accurate garb; it not cheap to purchase or make. It really doesn’t make sense to invest in an expensive outfit for young children when they are only going to grow out of it within a year. So I decided to accept the challenge and make a costume for under $5 that doesn’t require sewing.  I came up with the idea of making a quick and easy ‘no-sew’ Knight’s tunic!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

HOW TO MAKE YOUR TUNIC

  1. The first step is to measure and cut the felt. The width is 12 inches across and the length is 26 inches long.
  2. Next fold the material in half length wise in order to cut a hole for the head. I measure 3 inches for the shoulders and than 4 inches down at cut the fabric at angle to create a v shaped necked. I also cut in the shoulders from the waist to make it more narrow from the top. The shoulders were cut down to 2 inches on each side.
  3. I painted and colored the wooden crosses and than hot glued them to the front of the tunic. I also cute pieces of ribbon with cross decoration and hot glued to the felt around the hem and the neck line for decoration.

I promise that I’m telling the truth when I say these were easy to make! The project literally requires zero sewing and the best part… it took me a little less than hour to make two costumes!
