The Playful Parent

When I heard that Cirque Italia’s Water Circus was coming to town, I was excited to see what it was all about.  I had no clue what to expect, except that it wouldn’t be a typical circus act. After going, I learned it’s like no other circus I’ve ever been to before! Cirque Italia features talented artists from all over the world to perform under the big top! The show includes acrobatics, contortion, aerials, juggling, stunts, comedy and more all while using special water features to enhance viewers experience. So let me share with you my family’s experience so that you know what to expect.

Cirque Italia is located in the parking lot of the Regency Stadium. Parking is both FREE and very easy to access. You can purchase your tickets on line or at the box office. Don’t forget that Cirque Italia offers one free child admission with every full priced paying adult ticket in levels 2 or 3.  I recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to the shows start time so you can; purchase tickets, find your seat and get refreshments.

Once you enter the big top there are vendors set up to purchase merchandise, food or get your little ones face painted.  I was impressed that the food available was affordable. $5 for a huge snow cone that was large enough for a whole family to eat was a great deal I wasn’t expecting. You don’t have to purchase your food at the vendor booth though, they have people walking around who can deliver food to your seat. Keep in mind you will need cash. I recommend setting a budget before you go and only bring that amount.

After looking around at the goodies, we made our way to our seats. On of the nice things about Cirque Italia is that there are assigned seats. This is very convenient so you don’t have to worry about arriving early to get a good seat.  I thought it was very professional that an usher assists guests to their seats. One thing I noticed right away was that every seat seamed to have a great view. One of the draw backs of being under a tent is that it gets rather toasty. Despite that there is air conditioning and fans, its hard to keep the tent cool. We brought little battery operated fans to get over this issue. I recommend dressing in comfortable attire as well. Be sure to stay well hydrated.

The show starts off with your usual clown act to get the audience pumped up and than moved to some acrobatic and stunt acts that were really cool. The audience got really fired up when the water works turned on and the stage transformed before our eyes. The water stage holds 35,000 gallons of water and allows for dramatic special effects and dazzling moves. I found it so interesting that the water made shapes as it fell. Depending on the theme of the song you would see music notes, hearts or waves.

I don’t want to give away all the secrets and details. I want to leave some of the surprises for when you come. In the end, Cirque Italia was absolutely breathtaking.  All of the acts were captivating and kept us all on the edge of our seats and wanting more!
