RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT OCEAN CITY

It can get very hot on the boardwalk in the summer and rain storms come along quite frequent. So if you are looking for a way to cool off or step indoors on a rainy day, you may want to consider Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

In June The Playful Parent was invited to explore Ripley’s Believe It or Not on the board walk in Ocean City. Our family has only been to one other Ripley’s before…so weren’t quite sure if it would be identical or different. Each location has similar exhibits that are traditional for Ripley’s; however, also has special exhibits just for their museum that are unique and fascinating. The Ocean City location seemed to be geared towards middle school aged children and older; however, my 2 years old and 4 year old were entertained. My boys were constantly pointing and saying “Look at this” and “Cool.” I think what’s most fun is that there are a bunch of things to not just see but touch!

Just as you enter the lobby, you are greeted by a 8 foot Transformer (Bumble Bee)!

To enter the museum you go up to the second level to explore the many mystery’s of Ripley.

Our favorite activity was the mirror maze.

I wish the museum had a section that featured more on marine life since the museum is at the beach. The museum in Ocean City seemed smaller than the one in Williamsburg and I was a little sad they didn’t have our favorite attraction the 4-D theater.

PLAYFUL PARENT TIPS

My biggest tip is to bring your camera. There were so many fun photo opportunities. Just as much as the museum itself is entertaining so are your children’s faces when they see something new and fascinating for the first time.

My next biggest tip would be to take your time. Don’t feel like you need to rush through and just glimpse at things quickly. Enjoy reading the informative signs next to each display.

I highly recommend getting the combo ticket, ours included admission to the museum, maze and laser quest.

There was one section that we walked past since my boys are young. There was an ancient ritual room that was a little creepy and for a more mature audience. Like most things monitored based on age, maturity and comfort level.

Look for coupons in the coupon books and ask about military discount to save money.

While at the boardwalk be sure to check out the new playground.
