Both my husband and I have favorite past times of attending sporting events of all sorts from basketball to football and soccer to baseball. Seems like sports have been a part of our relationship since the beginning for us. After all, the first time I was asked out on date was at a super bowl party in 2001. Our two sons first outings were to watch their daddy play softball. My husband and I have been going on date nights to baseball games for years. With my husbands old job we used to score free tickets to the O’s all the time. While we still enjoy getting out to a Major League Baseball game, it can get expensive  to take the whole family.  When the Blue Crabs stadium opened we were so excited; it was the perfect solution for local family fun!

Here are the top five reasons why Blue Crabs is a major deal:

GET CLOSER TO THE ACTION AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE

All the seats at the Regency Stadium are good, no matter where you sit. You always have a great view of the field and be close to the action. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs offers tickets at a very generous price; starting off at only $13 for general admission. Not to mention their children’s ticket policy allows little ones in for free….baseball fans under the age of 5 are not required to purchase a ticket when they sit on an adult’s lap.  Season ticket packages are also a great option for fans who attend a lot of games.  The Blue Crabs offers $10 ticket to military all season with the exception of June 23rd where military are free with ID for up to 4 tickets.

IT’S ALL ABOUT FAMILY FUN

Blue crabs baseball games are designed with families in mind. The staff go above and beyond to make sure games are lots of fun. At nearly every game there is some sort of promotion or giveaway. We’ve brought home bobble head dolls, t-shirts, baseball caps and baseballs from the past. Our favorite buddy Pinch (the mascot) is always walking around to meet and great fans, as well as dance and entertain. In between innings there is always some sort of little game staged on the field involving kids from the stands. My favorite is watching the kids put on ridiculously adorable costumes and running the bases in a race for a prize. Be sure to check the calendar because a few nights in the season, they put on a spectacular fireworks display after the game.

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD

I love ball park food! Nothing beats an old fashioned hot dog or freshly popped pop corn. Not to mention this season there were a few changes to the vendors. The famous and popular Nicks of Clinton sausages are now available. If you were worried about finding healthy options at the stadium, think again! There is a new vendor where Chick-Fil-a used to be that sells wraps and other healthy options. The boys love getting pizza and splitting the meal. You get two slices of pizza and a soda for only $8.99. There are tables with umbrellas to sit at in the kids area.

KIDS FUN ZONE

From the time my boys could walk, they were interested in the fun zone. You can purchase a wrist band that gives you access to the fun zone for $7 for kids ages 4 and up and free to kids under age 4. In the kids fun zone you will find four play structures; playhouse, playground, pirate ship and castle. There is also a rock climbing wall and moon bounce/slide.

EVENTS/PROMOTIONS

I love that there is an entire event calendar with something different and interesting at almost every home game. The picture from above is my son collecting candy during Halloween in June helicopter candy drop. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs host a lot of  sporting events for fans but also host fundraisers for the community. Events such a Center for Children’s Touch A Truck are hosted at the stadium, as well as Paint the Park Pink and many more. Southern Maryland Blue Crabs isn’t just about baseball; its about community!
