Making homemade giant bubbles has  been at the very top of my bucket list for sometime now! It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy bubbles. I was excited to experiment with different recipes to write this article. Making bubbles seems simple; it’s not rocket science after all. You can make a basic bubble solution by just mixing soap and water; however, here are two recipes that you will definitely want to try this summer for the biggest and strongest bubbles.

BASIC BUBBLES

What You Will Need:

  • 6 Cups of Water
  • 1 Cup of Liquid dish soap (I used Palmolive because the green looks so cool!)
  • 1 Cup Light Corn Syrup
  • Clean container or bowl for mixing
  • Jar for storing (I used mason jars)

How To Make Basic  Bubbles:

  1. Measure out your ingredients;  pour water into large bowl, then slowly add the dish soap to the mixture. Next, stir the solution very slow so that it doesn’t bubble or foam as you stir.
  2. Add corn syrup to the solution and stir carefully and slowly until mixed together.
  3. For this recipe you are able to use the solution right after making it. However, I noticed the bubbles were even stronger the next day. Enjoy and have fun!

What You Will Need:

  1. Pour water into container, add cornstarch and let dissolve by stirring very well. Stir in baking powder next, followed by the glycerin or lubricant incorporating until well mixed.
  2. Add the dish soap last, be careful to pour in slowly and stir gently in order to prevent bubbling or foaming.
  3. For this recipe the solution will need to sit for a minimum of one hour or over night for best results. Be sure to stir occasionally so the cornstarch doesn’t settle to the bottom.
  4. While waiting for the solution to work it’s magic make some homemade wands.
  5. Enjoy making huge bubbles!

PIPE CLEANER BUBBLE WAND

What You Will Need:

pipe wand

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Beads
  • Small Cookie Cutters

How To Make Pipe Cleaner Bubble Wand:

how to pipe

  1. The first step is choosing what shape bubble wand you would like to make. Chose a small cookie cutter in the shape of a circle, hearts, flower, etc. Mold the pipe cleaner around the cookie cutter to form a shape. Keep in mind the bigger the shape, the bigger the bubbles. Be sure to leave extra pipe cleaner on the end in order to make a handle.
  2. For the handle, string on beads to your liking. Once all the beads are on the pipe cleaner, twist the end of the pipe cleaner to keep them from falling off.

STRAW BUBBLE WAND

What You Will Need:

straw wand.jpg

  • Straw (Straight not bendy)
  • 4 Ft of String (Kite String works well)

How To Make Straw Bubble Wand:

  1. Thread string  through 2 straws. Tie the ends of the string together and slide the knot inside straw (you don’t want the knot to pop the bubble).
  2. Next hold up the two straws spreading the string evenly between them making a rectangle shape when held out.
  3. When you are ready to make your bubbles you will want to hold one straw in each hand with the straws next to each other, than dip the whole wand into the bubble solution.  As you pull the straws from the mix, slowly pull the straws apart.  Then watch as the wind does the rest for you! To close your bubble bring the straws back together.  It may take a few tries to master the technique.

***We ran out of time to take pictures of the giant bubbles; so I will update with photos within the next few days!***
