Today it was full steam ahead to Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center; usually when referring to steam I’m talking about my boys obsession with trains. However, today it was all about a FREE program at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center that is held once a month called “Full STEAM Ahead.” Which features Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. This interactive program is perfect for toddler and preschool aged children and their caregivers. Each month’s session promotes children to think outside the box through exploring, observing, asking questions and making predictions about the world around them as they create and play.

Today’s theme was bio-mimicry! We went on a scavenger hunt that encouraged following directions and discovering clues, created airplanes to learn about flight and made bridges that mimicked dinosaur skeletal structures.

Since it was sunny outside we ended the day with exploring the outdoor sculpture garden and playing in Fairy Lolly, a wonderful natural play area with an enchanted castle, whimsical tepee, colorful houses, imaginative stage, hopping logs and so much more. This was a dream come true for my boys, who love imaginative play.

I think what I love best about this hidden gem is how nature and art are merged together. It is such an inspirational, fun and peaceful place to visit. I highly recommend visiting this Annmarie Sculpture Garden and even attending the Full Steam Ahead program it was such a fun event. I love that it encourages a love for knowledge by learning through play.
