DISNEY ON ICE PRESENTS DREAM BIG IS COMING TO WASHINGTON, DC

Our family had the pleasure of going to DISNEY ON ICE- FOLLOW YOUR HEAT in Fairfax, Virginia back in November. Both my toddler and preschooler were captivated by watching their favorite Character’s dance around on the ice, all while listening to their favorite Disney tunes. I was over the moon when I heard that Disney on Ice was returning to Washington, D.C. for a new show Dream Big!

Even if you saw Follow Your Heart already, you won’t want to miss Dream Big. Come witness an empowering tale featuring Disney’s most courageous leading ladies as they tell their stories artistic skating and acrobatics. Disney’s- Dream Big will highlight eight Disney Princesses: Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, Jasmine, Aurora and Snow White, as they embark on incredible adventures, determined to make their dreams come true. Dream Big will also include every ones favorite sisters from Frozen as it is brought to life on the icy stage.

This show will perform at the Verizon Center from February 15 – 20, audiences will be transported to a world where imaginations soar and anything can happen. Through enchanted pixie-dust, Tinker Bell takes audiences on a journey of beloved Disney tales. Make a splash with the fearless dreamer Ariel as she yearns to explore life above the waves. Watch Rapunzel, Cinderella and Belle as they learn about the power to make their own magic. Travel to the wintry world of Arendelle with sisters Anna and Elsa and the hilarious snowman Olaf from Disney’s Frozen as they learn that true love is the greatest magic of all. Be there to discover a whole new world with the daring Jasmine, and join Snow White, Aurora and Tiana as they remind you that strength and kindness go hand-in-hand. High-flying jumps, daring acrobatics, breathtaking skating and lovable Disney friends make Disney On Ice presents Dream Big an experience your family will never forget!

The Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center and Lackey Indoor Pool are currently open with the following policies in place:
- Only Charles County residents will be permitted.
- Open Swim Hours:
  Monday-Friday, 5:30-8:00 p.m. (Lackey) , 7:09-9:00 pm (North Point & Wade) ,
  Saturdays and Sundays, 9am-12pm (Lackey) Noon-6:00 p.m. (Donald M. Wade & North Point)
- General Guidelines:
  Maximum 70 patrons permitted into the facility.
  General pool admission is limited to 2 hours.
  Patrons will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis.
  Swim lessons, pool rentals, lane rentals, and birthday parties are not available at this time.
- Lap Swimming:
  During open swim hours, 2 lanes will be reserved for lap swimming.
  During our high school swim clinic, only 1 lane will be reserved for lap swimming.
  Lap swimming only hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center
  During this time, all 6 lanes will be available
  Lap swimming will run on a windowed cycle. For example, if the first window starts at 4:00 p.m., that window will close at 5:00 p.m. The next window would run from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and the windows would proceed in that cycle for the duration of open swim hours.
  Lap lanes will be limited to 1 person per lane, unless a member of the same household.
- Water Aerobics at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center:
  Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  Classes are limited to 20 participants
  Walk-in Fee: $8/class
- Prior to Arrival and Admission:
  Please follow all recommendations on COVID-19 – if you are feeling sick, please stay home.
  Patrons will check-in upon arrival.
  Accepted forms of payment: cash, credit card, punch card, and RecPASS.
  Daily admission fees:
  Ages 2 and Younger – Free
  Youth (Ages 3-12) and Seniors (60+) – $5
  Adults (Ages 13-59) – $6
  Patrons are encouraged to wear their bathing suits to/from the facility.
  All personal belongings should remain with you during your visit. Items left behind will be discarded daily.
  Patrons are encouraged to bring a water bottle. No other drinks or outside food will be permitted into the facility.
- Masks and Social Distancing:
  Masks are required for patrons over the age of 5 when entering the facility, on the pool deck, in the restrooms, and when social distancing is not possible.
  Masks are not required to be worn in the water unless participating in shallow water exercise such as water aerobics
  Patrons sitting on the pool deck with their feet in the water will not be considered to be in the water and must wear a mask.
  All patrons are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and anyone (including our staff) who is not a member of their household. Social distancing guidelines also apply in the water and our staff will be enforcing social distancing throughout the facility.
- Pool Furniture and Equipment:
  Bleachers will be marked with 6 feet of distance between sections.
  Sections may not be shared with a member of a different household.
  Sections will be sanitized by staff after each use. Outside furniture is not permitted.
  General pool equipment (kickboards, pool noodles, life jackets, etc) will not be available for public use.
  The water basketball hoop will not be available.

- Lap Swimming:
  During open swim hours, 2 lanes will be reserved for lap swimming.
  During our high school swim clinic, only 1 lane will be reserved for lap swimming.
  Lap swimming only hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center
  During this time, all 6 lanes will be available
  Lap swimming will run on a windowed cycle. For example, if the first window starts at 4:00 p.m., that window will close at 5:00 p.m. The next window would run from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and the windows would proceed in that cycle for the duration of open swim hours.
  Lap lanes will be limited to 1 person per lane, unless a member of the same household.
- Water Aerobics at Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center:
  Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  Classes are limited to 20 participants
  Walk-in Fee: $8/class
- Prior to Arrival and Admission:

  Patrons sitting on the pool deck with their feet in the water will not be considered to be in the water and must wear a mask.
  All patrons are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet between themselves and anyone (including our staff) who is not a member of their household. Social distancing guidelines also apply in the water and our staff will be enforcing social distancing throughout the facility.
- Pool Furniture and Equipment:
  Bleachers will be marked with 6 feet of distance between sections.
  Sections may not be shared with a member of a different household.
  Sections will be sanitized by staff after each use. Outside furniture is not permitted.
  General pool equipment (kickboards, pool noodles, life jackets, etc) will not be available for public use.

Information: Every year from Thanksgiving until just after New Year’s Day, you can experience the Bull Run Festival of Lights, 2.5 miles illuminated by holiday light displays. Drive the festival route from the comfort of your car; turn out your headlights and just follow the magical glow. After viewing the lights, bring your family and friends to the holiday village to enjoy rides, refreshments, and of course, photos with Santa Claus (holiday village open select nights). The festival happens annually at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville, Virginia. Monday – Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday – Sunday and Holidays 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Holidays include November 23, December 24, 25, 31, and January 1).

Details: The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be bringing Santa Claus into your Neighborhood through the dates of December 2 to December 17. Santa will be riding on a big red firetruck sleigh! An Ambulance will occasionally lead, playing Christmas songs on their PA system. Santa Runs will begin between 5:30 – 6:30 PM and may last up until 9:00 PM. Their crews will cover the streets listed on their site.

Roller-skating is one way for kids to get some exercise and it’s something the whole family can do. Waldorf Roller Skating Center Roller and Inline Skating Rink offers open skating, where the rink is open to the public, as well as private access to the skating rink for events such as a birthday party. The rink offers rentals for regular roller skates and you are free to bring your own regular or inline skates. She has a Bachelors degree with a interest in Education and Masters in Clinical Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. “I believe that children learn through play!
