My family has been traveling to Williamsburg at Christmas time for the past five years. It is something that we look forward to all year. We chose to stay at The Residence Inn Williamsburg by Marriott this trip. With there being so many hotels to pick from it can be hard to narrow it down. After having multiple positive experiences at Marriott hotels, it was a no brainer to stay with a company that continues to impress.

I was so astonished by this hotel that I really don’t know what to share about first. From excellent hospitality to immaculately clean rooms you are sure to be impressed as well. From the time we arrived to the moment we checked out, our experience was memorable.  At check in the front desk clerk greeted our family with a warm smile and a wealth of information about hotel amenities. She reminded us about the special events that would be hosted through out the week. It’s always good to know when things like cookies and milk happy hour will be.

We were put in a spacious suite that was both stylish and functional. I love that the suite comes with a full sized kitchen; complete with fridge, microwave and everything you need to cook.  It was convenient having a full kitchen; you never know when your little ones will grow thirsty or hungry. I was shocked to find that there was even complimentary popcorn to pop and enjoy! The living room was attached to a separate bedroom with two queen beds and a full sized bathroom. I like that the bed quarters and entertainment spaces are separate. It makes it easier to have a door you can shut if some people want to sleep while others want to stay up later. The set up truly feels more like a home away from home instead of a hotel.

The continental breakfast is a great bonus. The seating area is comfortable and relaxing. I like that they had a family dining table, small tables and even comfy chairs set up for different family sizes or seating preferences. The buffet had classic choices such as quick and easy options like; cereal, fruit, bagels and yogurt that are ready for those on the go. We prefer the hot breakfast and enjoyed the bacon, eggs and biscuits. My boys especially loved the waffle maker!

One of my favorite memories of the hotel is seeing the boys help daddy with the luggage cart. They get so excited about helping push the elevator buttons and loading up and unpacking the bags. Another favorite memory was going to the pool than getting warmed up with a cup of hot chocolate. My boys are fish, so staying at a hotel with a pool is at the top of the list. Both the sister hotels Residence Inn and Spring Hill Suites by Marriott are on the same property; so between the two there is a outdoor and indoor pool option!

One of the other big things I love about this hotel is its location. The Residence is right across the street, walking distance from our favorite restaurant Food for Thought; as well as near other stores and the unique museum Ripley’s: Believe It or Not. It is so convenient that this hotel is just a short drive from Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.  It provides easy access to the rich history and culture of Williamsburg, Virginia.

I felt like we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. Next time we visit Williamsburg we will definitely be staying here…this is our winter weekend getaway spot.
