With fall finally here; it’s time to visit a farm, pick your perfect pumpkin and join in some festive fall fun. Located right off of 301 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland is Montpelier Farms. An amazing farm that offers festive fall fun right here in Southern Maryland. This article will offer a sneak peek look into the farm so that you can plan out your next trip to Montpelier. Since we’ve been going for a few years now you will see pictures from past and present years.

There is so much for little pumpkins to see and do! It’s  great to have a place where you can spend hours of wholesome fun at an affordable price. There are eve;n season passes available! Admission includes: 7-Acre corn maze, Jack and the corn stalk maze, hay ride, animals, cow belly moon bounce, pedal karts, hay & play, corn crib (this year sand square), pallet maze, corn tepee, kids playground area, farm football lounge, piggy pile up and a public bonfire.

Montpelier Farms also sells additional activities for purchase:

  • GIANT PUMPKIN PAD – $2- A giant 65ft x 43ft pumpkin shaped jump pad
  • DUCK RACES – $2 – You will receive your very own rubby ducky. Race your duck then take it home with you.
  • PUMPKIN CHUNKIN’ – $3 -Using pumpkins, try 3 times to hit the targets with our large mounted slingshots.
  • PAINT-A-PUMPKIN – $6 -Includes the pumpkin and supplies, paint it how you’d like it and take it home with you.
  • GEM STONE MINING – $6 -Mine for Beautiful Gems and take them home with you.
  • SCARECROW WORKSHOP – $8 -We provide the supplies, make your own scarecrow and take it home with you.

You will find that there is more than enough to do on the farm. Some of our favorite activities include duck racing and pedal cars. The best part is there is something to do for kids of all ages and young at heart.

The kids area at the back of the farm is where you will find the cow moon bounce, play areas, pedal karts and lots of animals to meet.  I was impressed with giant truck that was re-purposed into a slide.

Don’t forget to take a nice relaxing ride on the hayride around the farm. You will find the pick-up and drop off near the front entrance. Once you’ve taken a ride, you are in the right spot to go up the hill and slide down the exciting pipe slides. In this section, you will also find the apple launchers; which are always a big hit with my boys.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Since the farm is hilly throughout the farm; I suggest bringing a carrier or warp to carry your little one around in. If you feel you would benefit from a stroller I suggest that you bring one that is designed well for off road terrain.

If you go on a weekend, be sure to come hungry! There is a plethora of finger lickin’ food. My boys  always devour their hotdogs and fresh grilled corn on the cob. My husband and I like to order food from “Two Guys and a Grill” concession. The fresh cut French fries are to die for! Don’t forget to check out what available in the barn, where you can get fresh hot apple cider donuts made right on the farm (new this year.) You can also get apples from local orchards and other tasty treats.

To avoid weekend crowds come earlier in the day. We came on a Sunday at 11 a.m. and were able to hangout for a few hours before the crowd started to flow in. Coming for three to four hours and then heading home for naps was the perfect timing for my two and four year old.
