Nestled in the rolling hills of Northern Maryland this historic farm is the perfect location to attend a fall festival. I was taken aback by the scenery…This  exquisite view of fields rich with the harvest of pumpkins and pine trees all set by the beautiful back drop of the rolling hills is just pure breath taking. Despite that there are many attractions on the farm to keep you busy and entertained; Gaver Farm has a way of making you feel at home.  From the gorgeous views to the comforting southern hospitality you will be ready to relax and have a good time.

When you arrive at the farm, there will be an ample amount of free parking in the field next to the entrance. You can purchase a ticket ahead of time online or at the door with cash or credit. Once you enter the farm you will notice how nicely spread out the activities are so that it doesn’t feel crowded. I love that you can enjoy some activities at the front of the festival than follow the corn maze to the back of the festival for more festive fun.

The huge jumping pillow is one of the first attractions that you will see entering the festival. Just kick off your shoes and bounce to your heart’s content. There is a friendly staff member present to help with keeping jump time safe and fun.

Also at the front of the farm are a few children’s play areas. My boys were over the moon about the train play set. They really enjoyed crawling through the tunnels and pretending to drive an engine. If you listen carefully while at the farm you can occasionally hear a real locomotive blowing its whistle in the back ground. My boys also enjoyed the swings, which were the most adorable swings I’ve ever seen made out of recycled tires to look like cattle.

You can venture around the festival or you can get lost in a maze trying to make it to the other side of the farm where there are more activities. I suggest that if you have children under age five that you use the Apple  Kiddie Maze; the school aged and older children will love getting lost in this 7 acres Corn Maze. Not only will you find corn mazes but color, pumpkin, hay mazes and more through out the festival.

There are so many activities to explore spread out around the farm that I really don’t know what to brag about first. There is a cute section filled with tunnels, play sets, a pumpkin house, corn crib and even a gold rush mining style water pump you can race rubber ducks down.

Make sure you purchase a cup of feed when you buy your tickets at the entrance so you can feed the animals. It is super cute to see the goats poke their little heads through windows so you can give them munchies and pet them. Not only will you find goats but sheep, pigs, chickens, rabbits and more.

The slides at Gaver Farm are out of this world cool. Some you climb stairs to slide down and others are strategically placed on hill sides. My favorite slide is the Silo Slide; a giant yellow twisty slide is housed in a beautiful restored silo.

I love the little brain teaser games that are found towards the back of the festival in the woods. They are entertaining and educational; great for all ages. Your family can even take on the challenges together and use problem solving skills to master the puzzles all while bonding and making fond memories. Also, for those who enjoy sports there are lots of midway style games such a baseball, football and basketball toss.

There are some engaging interactive activities that I had never seen before at other farms. One activity my boys loved was the corn mill station; where you can scoop and play in the corn as well as send corn down a conveyor belt by turning a wheel. The log cabin building and sound garden were also entertaining.

There are a few rides that you won’t want to miss out on. The cow train is adorable and much fun! Also, the pedal carts are a blast. The tractor seats can be adjusted for size so that everyone in the family can enjoy a race.

Last but not least, finish the day off with a good old fashioned hayride out to the pumpkin fields where you can pick your own pumpkin. The tractor will take you out to the field and return you right in front of the barn and exit to the parking lot where you can purchase your goodies and head home.

I had no clue that Gaver Farm hosted holiday events during the winter too. They have a beautiful Christmas Tree farm with selection of Spruce, Fir and Pine Christmas trees! We will definitely have to return in November/December to pick a tree! Thank you Gaver Farm for inviting us to your fall festival…we had an amazing time!
