Let your imagination run wild at Clark’s Elioak Farm, where fairy tales and nursery rhymes are brought to life. With over 25 figures and play sets based on nursery rhymes and fairytales, a interactive petting farm, enchanted forest, hayrides and cow train ride, learning has never been more fun!
A little background about the farm restoration process. The Enchanted Forest a popular theme park from the 1950’s closed down for good in 1995, much of the forest now sits on nearby Clark’s Elioak Farm, where the remnants continue to enchant it’s visitors. These beautiful and unique works of art are an excellent backdrop that encourages imaginative play and are the perfect place to act out favorite rhymes and fairy tales.
Amongst the collection you will find : The Three Bears House, The Little Red School House, The Old Woman’s Who Lived In A Shoe, The Merry Miller’s House, The Crooked House and Crooked Man, Willie the Whale, Little Toot, Humpty Dumpty, Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the seven dwarfs, The Giant and Beanstalk, The Little Pigs houses, Robin Hood and his Merry Men, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater’s wife, The Genie and magic Lamp, Robinson Crusoe, Alice in Wonderland Tunnel, Jack & Jill, Little Boy Blue, Mother Goose, and castle. Some of the structures are meant for viewing while others you can play on.
I love that Clarks Elioak Farm is family owned and has been farming in Howard County since 1797. The petting farm is much fun and a great way for kids to become familiar with a wide variety of farm animals such as goats, sheep, donkeys, pigs, cows, horses, ponies, turkeys, ducks, chickens, bunnies, and even an emu. You can feed the animals and visit the Barnyard area where you can touch and pet them. I recommended taking a tour of the farm on a hay ride that tours through the farm fields and a number of play areas for the children. Pony rides and Cow Train rides are also available all day.

The farm is family friendly in so many ways from entertainment to play areas for tiny tots or shaded seating area for picnics and changing tables for diapering baby. Maneuvering a stroller is a bit difficult since the walk ways are gravel pathways. However, there are plenty of places to park the stroller. I suggest purchasing tickets for the hayride, cow train and horse rides with admission. So you don’t have to walk back and forth between attraction and ticket booth at the entrance. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. One of the kids in our group was nervous about riding a horse, the attendant was patient, encouraging and knew what to say and do to make him feel comfortable. Be sure to stay on the look out for trees with faces they blend in and are fun to find. I found it smart that many of the slide were in shade or that umbrellas covered so them so they didn’t get to hot. A day at the farm is affordable $8 tickets include admission and hayride. You can purchase additional tickets for horse rides and cow train for $2 a ride.
