Joseph P Weick Community Park aka “The Wooden Park” is located in downtown Leonardtown next to the courthouse. This is a really cool playground that came highly recommended to visit. My kids enjoyed exploring this playground for hours. When  it comes to  playground equipment this park has it all from traditional swings and sandbox to unique suspended bridge and wooden  airplane. I love the xylophone with color coded keys and notes painted so you can play songs.

For those with children different ages you will be happy that there are sections designed for younger and older children so they can explore at their developmental level. I always feel like I can let my guard down a little as the playground is fenced in and is conveniently located next to the police department. There are seating areas throughout the park so you can sit back, relax and watch the kids play.

The playground is only partially shaded so be sure to bring sunscreen and stay hydrated. There are picnic benches so eating a nice picnic lunch is a great option. Bathrooms are located in the recreation center.

Be sure to visit the Leonardtown Library located walking distance to the park and sign-up for a Quest Booklet. Visit ten places by August and win a compass.
